Would the LoU engine be able to support the vast DAYZ landscapes? Or everything else in dayz?
I understand your point, but game design just isnt as simple as all that.

In the videos above you are seeing the entire earth (much of it to within centimeter accuracy). In fact you can open up a chrome browser in engine and see exactly where on the earth you are using google maps. As you will see in the clips, the rendering is completely seamless from space all the way down to a single blade of grass.
At least for me, what makes DayZ special is the size of the game world but I cant help wondering what kind of game it would be if it were played out on a planetary scale with several million players all on the same planet at the same time. Obviously this will not be possible anytime soon, but the day will come when server tech will be able to fully simulate this scale.
