Do animals drop loot?

Killed 6 cows now, no loot from them. Killed them with the mosin, any idea if they actually drop stuff?

you need a knife to skin them. thats how you get cowhide and steaks

you need a knife/machete/similar item to skin and quarter the animal... you get raw meat(needs to be cooked) and skin for crafting a backpack(unsure if its used with anything else atm)

What kind of loot did you think of? I have never seen a cow carrying guns or cans of food, so the only loot to get from them is the skin and the meat ;)

does anyone know if you can make the bags out of cowhide or does it have to be a specific animal hide?

you can make lether sac out of deer and cows and for the wild boar you can make an extra item like a shelter over a fireplace....never been able to try yet as I am looking for a wild boar

the sac out of boar is only 6 slots but if you have protective cases you can have 2 extras slots

No but deer makes a bag with just a knife. Pork makes a small backpack with rope and a really good backpack with sticks and rope.

FYI: the better the quality of the knife you use to skin them, the better the quality of the meat is you get...example: badly damaged knife: a gazillion pieces of meat being around 5%, a pristine knife: roughly 8 to 10 meat with up to 90/05%...

You need a machete or a knife, they drop 3-6 steaks and some pelt.

You fire one of your few bullets, the deer is hit, it runs a few paces and slumps to the ground, you run over to it excited.

The deer has exploded into several steaks and a nicely rolled bundle of skins.
