I keep getting lost and it's frustrating
I'm new to the game and i keep getting lost. I usually follow the road so that try to make it to a military base, but I get lost the I die from blood loss. It's so frustrating especially when I lost the only backpack I found when searching for 1-2 hours

Use this map: http://www.thaigamerupdate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/ZmQMJ.jpg

I don't read Russian, so I started out just matching the Russian symbols from in-game road signs and matching them on the map. Find a compass, they really help. Also, keep in mind that you spawn near the coast, so the coast will usually either be directly South or East of where you start.

Either one of these are good... I think the izurvive is more up-to-date and also has the option to go terrain or satellite. Having said that I think I like the dayzdb better for day to day use. :j

a printed off map and village road signs will get you anywhere u want to go, There is one map that has a legend on the right side that shows both english and russian names for towns.

Just shift+tab while in game and open steams web browser, and load the dayzdb map. voila no need to exit the game just shift+tab to get a glance at the map to make sure your heading the direction you want shift+tab out.

I zurvive is my fave, and even with that I get lost at times. I think damaged compasses may not be that reliable or something lol. Like today a clanmate and I went looting and he wanted to visit a spot he never went to, he had the better compass, and I was the newb so I let him lead. We played with a chicken coop we found in the middle of no where because we heard about a bug, got nothing usefull out of it, and he had to log out to go to work. Well he was convinced the town was just around a hill we were near, I followed the road and it was a dead end, I had zero landmarks and the road didn't really stand out on the map.

I just ran north like he said to if I got lost, I got more lost, so went south east hoping to see the train tracks, wich I couldn't remeber if we passed, we hadn't, I loged out in a spot I was bout 50/50 sure was west of the north west airfield where we started by never confirmed it, I had zero clanmates on are clan server so bailed as the PUGers were slowly pooring in while server hoping and I knew if it was the air field getting close enough to confirm it might cause a nasty run in with a bandit. Plus we were hunting for aks so I knew I couldn't resist checking the airfield solo if I did spot it, one last time hoping I find one. I found a mag, a folding stock, foregrip, and bipod for it the last run through, so was itching to find one to mod up.

the getting lost is a massive part of the game. you are supposed to have a hard time navigating. if you don't like it then this game isn't for you.

you stated that you get lost then die from blood loss. do you not realise that if you are loosing blood you need to bandage the wound or you will die.

if you are gonna keep playing this game you should do some research or you are going to have a nightmare.

wait till you brake your leg an hours crawls from anywhere.

I rip up my shirt and create bandages from that, but then another zombie attacks me. The zombie isn't even close to me and I still get hit. I'm guessing it's a bug as it keeps happening constantly.

yes its a bug. the hit box for the zombies and its model go out of synch.

this game is not for the faint hearted m8. it took me ages to get my bearings.

you are not supposed to be able to find your way around easily.

when i started i would loot until i found a compass and then just head of into the country side and try to navigate my way around.

you will start to get an idea if you keep at it.

for instance there are quite a few distinctive hills around the map (i think the biggest is in the middle) and some have towers on them. once you can find them on the horizon and you have an idea where the coast is it starts to get easier.

also look for telegraph and power lines they tend to go from town to town.

and lastly google how to mend a broken leg and keep the stuff you need in your inventory as its easy to brake a leg and if it happen in the middle of nowhere you are stuffed.
