DayZ
Can no longer repair ammo per hotfix?
some boner opened a bug case with DAYZ telling them you can repair AMMO with a weapon cleaning kit and this hot fix changed that. This is the note in the bug report and in the hotfix...thoughts?

"Hello JerryK.
This has been resolved internally - it will no longer be possible to repair ammunition with repair kit as it was never an intention for it to work that way. The damaged ammunition will not jam the weapon.
Regards,
Geez"

I'm surprised that this game doesn't have all sorts of underground pathways, seeing how all major cites in the world have them due to, their sewer/water lines and underground broiler systems.

Some servers *Kind of* have mods for that but not really in the sense you're talking about.

I wish we did have that though. Talk about a hectic moment in the dark lol

Sorry if this is obvious....

But if damaged ammo does not jam or damage your gun anymore....

Then whats the point of ammo even having damage states?

Seems like they removed all the reasons to have it in the first place lol
Damaged ammo never had any effect on anything and it still doesn't. The damage states are just a side effect of the new feature which spawns all gear in varying conditions.

Or does it? I've never actually tested to see if damaged rounds vs pristine had an effect on armor or not? We can assume and all but has it actually been tested? Does velocity change?

I tested it briefly before the patch. No effect on jamming as expected, and no difference in damage dealt to the target or the gun, or to magazine when emptying/filling them.

Eh... Wish they'd make it matter to be honest.

Apparently they're thinking the same:
The presence of damaged bullets is a side effect of applying the global damage on magazines and the piles. Bullet damage state is right now only relevant while having them in your inventory and getting hit (damaged piles will take less damage to be ruined). We will revisit how bullet state could affect the firearm at a later time (very likely through a less punishing mechanics compared to what jamming is right now).

Geez

Ah nice!

I'd like if they adopted a system like STALKER when it comes to ammo state.

i am curious if you can still combine very damaged ammo and pristine ammo to make a worn pile? ill have to check when i get on
unfortunately, yes. people will stack those bullets til they are pristine/worn. hopefully they fix that too in the near future.

A long standing issue with stacking items. I'm sure we all do it to some extent but it would be nice if it was solved. Realistically though, its a small issue in the grand scheme of things.

i"m guessing that shooting damaged ammo will cause your weapon condition to degrade faster, seems like that would make the most sense

does it get 'ruined' and not work at all? i've never had that happen before.
