We are a very small community. And you will know you are doing a good job if you see players returning. I would love to try or test out your server as the main HC server I play is down right now being overhauled.
As far as things I like. I like less food, less water sources. (not all wells work) Crafting instead of finding. Like knives and hammers and saws and the like. (look into hellretex mods)
But feedback is always welcome.
The servers are following:
"Beyond The Void": Hardcore Survival Winter Chernarus with Namalsk features like the EVR storm and temperature and stuff. Much more zombies but also much more content like zombies, weapons, clothing and stuff and some supernatural things like Designators or the Dark Horde.
"Operation Desert Hawk - Takistan Hardcore Survival": Less ready than the first one. This server is more for PVP players, so more weapons and stuff. Wanted to bring some middle east vibes to DayZ.
We also want to bring our personal lore and story to the servers, that's why there are much lore unfriendly mods on the servers like the Designators or the Dark Horde (with exclusive loot for endgame players).
PS: You still have to join through the DayZ Launcher. The servers are in the DZSALauncher too but i still don't have figured out how to add the feature that you can download the mods through it.
Medical Attention is also good for making survival more difficult.
Most hardcore survival servers I have played have an abundance of food/bones/water/medical supplies/ammo/repairs/storage.
Balancing up the type file can be hard work and there are servers with vastly reduced loot that makes searching tedious. The trick IMO is to have plenty of loot but little of the loot needed to survive, ie water containers.
Also I love to see loot spawning in a damaged or badly damaged state. There seems something wrong about players in pristine clothing and weapons.
Bag space. I personally limit bags to crafted bags only but there's nothing wrong with rare backpacks. Limiting carry space ramps up difficulty.
More over your servers will remain low pop if it's truly harsh so don't balance your loot table thinking you will get 40 players or more.
My server has been live for 2 months and slowly numbers are going up and consistent,
Light RP and tweaking constantly to create a hardcore survival with a good grind and rewarding progression, tough balance for sure but I'd rather it be this way than the 9,000 servers MAXLOOT,100KSTART,BLAHBLAH copy paste servers out there, finding the right server never happened for me so I thought sod it and built my own

I've played almost exclusively harsh survival servers for a long time now and I've not found any that are popular.
Doesn't mean they can't be but I find once it becomes a death wish to shoot a gun the server remains low pop.
Most players do want a PvP experience.
I know what you mean about the 100k starting funds though. But even casuals need somewhere to play
Thanks man, slowly but surely for sure, spent a good amount of time overhauling chernarus and its looking pretty good so far, very nice custom pvp zones and having a passion for it helps greatly, if anyone is interested I can post the discord :)
