Wolves can be heard a long way so people in area already on notice. Then when you stop. (hide in a house) there is the constant barking. It makes it easier to hone in on where you are.. It is a lot faster to just kill them and flee,
if you encounter them in the open, try and get to higher ground.
a .380 or 7.62x54 or .357 will always oneshot them.
when melee fighting them, always have a tree or a wall in your back because they like to sneak up from behind while the others distract you.
It's a cheap way to clean the wolves mess.
I usually use that technic to clean some military camps.
The risk : taking too much time = others players can be here before you finish, so...
2- log out some minutes / hours.
Logging out some minutes can help to make the wolves to go away.
But the high risk : the other players still are coming to your position.
Logging out some hours : it helps to resolv all the problems : Wolves & players.
This is the easiest way when unarmed. Just open a door, back away inside the building and wait for one to come in. If it doesn't just adjust your position inside the building which will re-adjust their own pathing to you. When one comes in, walk past it close the door and punch it out. Rince repeat.
As far as them running away, they do so when the majority have been taken out.
