DayZ
does the game allow for a private coop experience?
hey I wanted to ask cause I was interested in getting this game

but I want to get it for a specific purpose of playing with my GF where we start our own private game where we roam the world together with no other players

so is it possible in this game or you can only play it public with other people?

You could join some low population server where you aren't likely to run into other player. Or rent a private server or set one up on your own computer.

Said character might only work on your dedicated server, so once its down, i think you need to restart your character on next dedicated server session.

But i dont know for certain, just popped up reading your question.

No, Dayz servers constantly save your progress and any persistent things in the game world. That's why you don't start as a fresh spawn when servers restart a few times a day.

Yes you can. Look in you library, under tools for DayZ Server. You can install it and run it on you LAN.

Search YouTube to learn how to set it up.

I dont talk about official and community servers though, but i guess dedicated servers running from your own computer also save it for next session, if you happen to turn off your computer.

Yeah there's no other way to create a server than what official and community servers use. So whatever works on them, will work on your server too.

Search scalespeeder gaming on youtube. Great tutorials on setting up your own Lan server, how to change maps, and even adding mods to it. It does save progress. If your gf is on a different network then look up hamachi tutorials so she will then be able to connect to your Lan.

wow thank you all for this info - what a great community this game has

it's great that the game has dedicated servers - it sth that seems to be fading away sadly looking at gaming industry these days...
