WIth knife find a chicken or two and kill and cook. Wash hands and eat. When you find a well drink 25 sips minimum. If you get a bigger melee weapon like an axe walk up to a cow or other farm animal and hit them. DO NOT chase it it will run only a short amount. Walk up and melee again and maybe do so 3 or 4 times and you now have all the meat you need for hours. Hunting from the spawn uses less energy than running house to house in my view and you can easily be maxed out with food within 20 minutes of spawn and that means you can reach any place on the map by sprinting now to retrieve your body before it despawns.
The only variation is if you are next to a greenhouse and it has tomato seeds then plant them first of all as you can return 25 minutes later to a massive harvest if all else fails. COOK them do not eat them raw unless you are thirsty and have no idea where a well is, The calories almost triple if you bake them So maybe consider cook half eat half for the hydration as cooked have very little hydration
I basically do this but finding a chicken, water bottle and fresh water is literally a gamble.
It's just 50/50 wether you can get access to those things otherwise you might as well kill yourself and try again.
Survival in this game gets easier the longer you're alive, the hardest part imo is the start.
Water containers are very common in low tier military areas and especially the bombed out houses and bunkers on Livonia.
Plastic water bottles are common at bus stops and in the small altars if you are not finding them in wooden houses,
If you struggle to find chickens they often spawn near houses with the chicken house behind them. Or use a 3rd party map that shows you where they are on the coast and you nearly always will find one.
cities - check every single building searching for cans of food, and a knife.
When you find a knife (anything sharp that can cut chickens) you are pretty much good, if you are getting really unlucky with finding your first knife, thats when you are in the danger zone, nothing you can do but just respawn and try another city.
You also don't need a water bottle, you can drink from water pumps with your hands in case you didn't know. (I also didn't know this when I first started playing)
