SCUM is WAY ahead of Day Z in terms of survival but Day Z has.... MODS.. Thats the only reason I play Day Z for now til Scum finishes this next major update.
And this is why I prefer scum better. It's largest complaint is that it's too PVE based currently. People complain of barely engaging in PvP unless its a modded server.
Scum is focused on the RPG side of things and with full blown character stats and health systems, Metabolism, etc Unlike ANY game out there today, It's one in its own. I bounce back to Day Z just to get a bit more engaged in PvP some times, Wont lie.
Both are good but Day Z is only a filler for now for me. Scum has far more advanced weaponry in terms of realism and how things work, audio, jamming, actual correct ballistics, and the way you can control your character is far more than day z can do currently.
Are the zombies supposed to be part of the pve? I always thought they were there just to complicate the pvp.
Seriously, though, the way DayZ handles PvP is what makes most people play straight PVE, mods or no mods. You can't really base on PvP server, because of the offline raiding... there's basically nothing to be gained by making a base at all. A lot of people I know just bury boxes of stuff somewhere instead of making a base.
Mods can do all kinds of things, of course, but if you have to rely on mods to make a game enjoyable, there's probably something wrong with the game.
I'm only in it for the realistic fishing and hunting. :-P
Because I dont.
I'm genuinely interested in the answers. I had an argument with a friend the other day about that very topic. He pretty much said the darker atmosphere and the action early on outweighs all the advancements Scum has (and ridiculed it as if it was obvious) So I wanted to know what other DayZ players think.
And I have to do it here because it wouldn't make sense anywhere else.
for now.
DAYZ and SCUM are not designed to be direct rivals (at least not from the DAYZ point of view.)
it's also fine for OP to prefer X or Y over DAYZ.
We can't convince folk to love DAYZ nor would we try to.
lastly, if you want to be extra groovy you could play *both* games, or neither.
it's all cool.
Couldn't agree more! That would be solid.
yeah scum has the best netcode, love watching people going up and down like a waterfall through buildings
