The bigger FoV you have, the more you can see.
The more you can see, the more you can see players.
Seeing less of the world reduces your chances of seeing players in it, particularly at the peripheries of your vision.
Less chance of seeing players means more chance of being killed by those players.
Low FoV makes no sense whatsoever.
I play on lowest FOV. My eyesight is fairly poor and I gladly will sacrifice peripheral vision for a clearer view in front of me.
Long range benefits low FoV.
Players who think high FoV is always beneficial is going to get spotted by a low FoV player in a long-distance situation. Not just that, but the player with the lower FoV will literally be shooting at a fatter/larger target.
