Voice / text chat

I have a communication problem, when I try to use the text chat with ENTER the game warns me that I should not use the global chat (are there different channels, how to change between them?), when I use CAPS LOCK to activate voice chat ppl don't hear me (are there mic settings / test anywhere in DayZ?). Any help would be appreciated, thanks

the official version has only direct chat activated, thus you must be playing a modded version.
look in the mod or the server description how to change channels.

iirc in the official version you could change channels with the , and . keys but I dunno if that's still applicable.

I'm playing on Spaggie community server. Unfortunately , / . do not work for channel switching and I haven't seen any hint on the server description, but thanks anyway!

I just checked Spaggie's Livonia and they just don't want people to use text chat, thus the warning but that's perfectly normal.

people should hear you over voice nonetheless, you can adjust the volume of the mic with the up and down arrow keys.
keep in mind that people also won't hear you if you wear a motorbike helmet.

if nothing works you can always try and delete your DayZ folder under 'my documents' - it will be rewritten at next start.

and last but not least check your sound-settings under windows.

Open chat box and try Tab? Haven't used text chat in long time but it was that for some pve servers way back. Usually the default key for multichannel chat in some games also (global/general, party, etc.)
