Does ammunition get ruined if it gets wet?

I need to go for a swim from my current location, but I can’t find any waterproof bags by the boat spawns around me. Sure this has been asked a great many times, but the game is always being updated, so I can never really trust old forum posts. Anyone noticed if ammo getting wet does anything now?

No your ammo will be fine. No need to protect it when swimming.

The only time it gets damaged is if you get shot and usually it is one of the last things to get damaged so unless you are hit full frontal at short range by a shotgun usually the ammo remains ok. On the other hand, plastic bottle suppressors are ruined with just a tap from an infected if you don't have then in a protective item like pouches, ammo case, yellow case.
