Is it better to play modded or vanilla?

I just started playing and I love the game already, but I know with other games like this modded can be loads better if you don't overdo it and make it too easy. Also I know with Rust for instance, there are far more people playing modded than vanilla servers.

The only modded servers I've tried so far basically make it an entirely different game with global chat and starting money and stuff like that, which to me takes away a huge part of what makes this game fun and unique.

I guess I'm looking for servers with maybe a slightly higher food spawn rate, a map, some more building options, etc.

Anyone know any servers like that? Or what I should look for in the names?

nah, he's right...it really depends on the server.
I only play on official servers and it's been ages (more than a year) that I last got owned by a cheater.

There is a simple logic to follow. Less popular and less populated "boring" servers will also have less hackers on them. Try finding your own balance. There are servers with some 100 people connected at all times, and I avoid them like the plague for that reason. That, and also, because I think 30 players feels much more like it's "supposed to".

Dayz official is a joke for survival to say the least. Food 'n Stuff everywhere.

Modded hardcore survival are there in 3pp and 1pp with much less loot, Tho, there's a lot of crappy trader-pvp server which all kinda lost the spirit of dayz. Anyways, those hardcore-survival experience where hunting and stuff actually matters are there, but rare gems.

Here is why battleeye is not working, all you have to do is google dayz hacks and see by ur self, the hacks are being rented per month and they even have a costumer service LOL (hacks 24hours 5$, 7 days 25$, 30 days 50$), don't tell me dayz owner has nothing to do with this. because you will make yourself look stupid.
So yah they sell you the game on steam and it's hacks on different "trusted" websites, i'm pretty sure these websites have a part of their earnings, it's just online business for them.

You must be very new to online gaming; there are cheats on the market for each and every online game worth playing, it's a global industry and the people who create these things make a ton of money. The only one looking stupid here is you kid; suggesting that the game developer is selling cheats on the side to destroy it's own player base makes absolutely no sense and the whole idea is infantile at best. It's the same idiotic argument as the one around anti virus programs; where some want to make you believe that the same developer selling you an anti virus program, is the one creating the virus in the first place.

that's right trust them and don't trust me, i hope you are trusting the right person lmao, and i'm aware that not just dayz selling hacks many other games too :) no body can change my opinion about what i think because this is the truth you either like it or not, i've seen guys selling their wifes for money imagine dayz not selling hacks and being honest giving you a nice game keep dreaming ♥♥♥♥♥♥
