Once you're green energised and hydrated, then you can concentrate on 'loot'.
Alternatively you can sprint from house to house trying to find loot, but it's challenging and I think it's pretty boring to be honest.
If u loot all the way up to Novaya Petrovka, there is no way you are not geared by the time u reach Novaya Petrovka. When you reached Novaya Petrovka, you can also go to Tisy Military base or the NWAF very quickly.
Last time i ran this route (today) on a med populated server i found an FN FAL right at the start at Turovo Checkpoint, i came across 3 winchesters, 1 mosin, repeaters, carbines, multiple CR75's, Glocks and 2 MP5's.
I took 'em all...
If I want to "loot up" I tend to go via Krasnotav and Chernaya Polana (including the car junkyard). Then in westwards. I always seem to find weapons and ammo there.

If you see ruined clothes, it means someone has been there recently.
I don't think rotten fruit exists in 0.62.
Ssomeone got there before you did and loot doesn't spawn in the same place or even area on the map. Have to go somewhere visted infrequently.
Now, if you're wanting loot to be like it was before the CLE, well - you're out of luck! At leaset until modding arrives with 0.63.
Yeah that is complete nonsense.
You head further inland you get the same empty buildings that people have already been through...
I hate the "Central Loot Econony" Personally this is where they dropped the ball. I'll be counting on mods to bring back the old Dayz.
Look at this way...
If I only have a couple hours to play...I'd rather spend it battling in Cherno or Elektro getting geared up ready for travels elsewhere.
Currently you can spend that 2hrs going from town to town sifting through empty buildings searching for trash loot and glitching apples. All while constantly being pelted with information about your character. I am hungry...I am too hot.
Like hell man F11 when you find a gun and rinse repeat because looting up is half the fun...
/s
Then don't use a route that other people frequently use. It's that simple.
DayZ was always supposed to be about survival. In DayZ mod, most of the villages were absolutely useless. You could pass them easily and without any regret. The loot farming was very easy as well.
Mods will definitely cater to you, but DayZ isn't another shooter. If you prefer battling, you might as well buy PUBG or any other Battle Royale game, which will take you ~40 minutes to play a match. Gear up, shoot people, win or die.
What did you expect would happen in an apocalyptic scenario? Also, loot is not the only source of food, so you're really wrong if you think that's the only way you can play.
I don't get what you're complaining about. You bought a survival game. What do you do in a survival game? Survive!
If you wanted just another shooter, go and buy PUBG or something or wait for the mods to come.
Loafy, I don't think DayZ is the game you're looking for then. DayZ has always been planned to be difficult to survive in - it's the anti-game, and a complete sandbox with many things that can kill you. The game is designed to kill you.
Dean was asked how hard should it be to find loot

To be clear, this is the fifth stable update since the announcement of Dean's departure.
Dean himself stated he wanted the game to be brutally difficult - infact when asked how the spawn rate in DayZ should be on a scale of 1 to 10 where:
1 = "Should I take the Red Beans or the White Beans? And for dessert, cookies or cupcakes? - Should I take the M4 or the AK? With Acog or Holo sight?"
10 = "Thank god, an unopened can. I've eaten nothing but berries and roots for days. - Finally a revolver bullet, my hatchet's getting dull."
Dean's response was an emphatic "10"

Last on my list for this week is some comments I wanted to make in regards to play styles, difficulty, and exactly how to play DayZ.
Obviously, as DayZ is an open world sandbox title, nearly anything is technically possible (in regards to play styles). As the initial deployment of the new infected A.I., as well as the central economy ramped up the difficulty within Chernarus, there were people vocalizing how they disliked how difficult DayZ was becoming. Now, obviously I've spoken on this before - but I feel the need to reiterate, and clarify a few things.
Surviving in Chernarus is intended to be difficult. I want you to value each bullet, I want discovering a roaming boar in the forest to be a stroke of good luck. However, this does not mean the play styles of "Coastal Chaos" or "Squad play" and so on are not viable playstyles
.
You can, and should be able to play DayZ however you want. Be warned however, every choice - every play style should, and will have its own cost. You can choose to spend your time in Elektro, fighting over sniper hill, or pitting your squad against a rival group up at the Northwest Airfield each have their own requirements to maintain, and overall costs (be it in time, health, resources, or life duration).

If you want to be playing battle royale, there are other games you can do that on, and if you really want to play this game, there is modding coming with 0.63 where people who want the experience you want, will create a mod for it.
The devs haven't ruined anything. The simple truth is that vanilla DayZ will be a very different game than you're looking for.
the point hes trying to get across is that it takes way to long to loot, always searching through empty houses with nothing inside. only way to get geared up is to run for freaking hours and yet again loot more empty houses somewhere inland. for casual gamers that cant spend dozens of hours to play its a nightmare. and the constant running for hours is boring and useless as ♥♥♥♥.
Honestly, if I want to gear up I can do it without running for freaking hours.
But I admit, I have put freaking hours into the game. So I know how to do it.
Nobody's "wrong" here, but it's definitely true that if you don't want to invest time in your character, DayZ might not be for you.
My son plays Fortnite on the PS4, and that seems to be the kind of game that offers the 'loot up and get right into the action' type experience many people want. DayZ is a bit more adult, I think. My son's 10 and he likes watching me play DayZ but I don't think he'd have the patience to play.
For me, it's the need to invest in the character paired up with the ever-present threat of instant permadeath that makes DayZ as good as it is. If you could loot up quickly like in Fortnite, there wouldn't be the sweating, shaking and thumping heartbeat which DayZ gives you.
