I have eye focus set to a thumb mouse button and it's quite comfortable to use.
all in all I can just say that DayZ sadly is way less configurable than the ArmA series, especially the controls.
it may be that some keys interfere with each other if you change too many controls, though, especially the mouse buttons shouldn't be reconfigured.
best advice is to leave controls on default, change only the absolute necessary and test after each change if everything else is still working
Yeah, the old system had so much flexibility but i admit it had a lot of bindings.
Guess i'll just experiment some more and try to adapt.
The other issue with the zeroing being reversed while bindings multiple keys must be a bug?, surely i'm not the only one wanting to do this?
I guess the game can only differentiate between click and hold (like the stance key) but I dunno if that goes for every key.
as you said, in the end it's a matter of trial and error.
But nvm, i cannot seem to map other keys to my liking and its just impossible for me to adapt after 25 years of playing FPS games haha.
For instance it seems RMB is hard coded to perform 2 actions, one for holding and one for clicking and these cannot be seperated which makes it very confusing.
With this i could be aiming down sight while holding RMB and clicking once on the button mapped to "eye focus", But if i just click RMB once im also aiming down sight without holding my RMB.
Im used to mapping a thumb button to lower and raise my weapon, Holding RMB would zoom in without ADS, Clicking RMB once would ADS and holding RBM while ADS would also zoom in.
I now need 4 buttons what i previously could do with 2 and this is going to get me killed every time.
I'm probably the only one complaining about this so i'll just move on.
Thnxs anyways
I know, it's tempting for us Arma players who are used to ADS with RMB but better just forget abut that, it'll mess up your whole control set.
leave the mouse buttons on default and anything else you reconfigure should work.
and don't forget, it's just a matter of getting used to in the end ;)
No, just my keyboard and mouse.
I dont understand why they did it this way but it is what it is.
Maybe i'll install arma 2/3 again and see if i can copy over parts of the userconfig to get it to work but seeing i just wanted to try Dayz again i dont think im going to bother with that.
