What is the rarest gun in this game?

I am currently on the hunt for the M4-A1.
Back a few years ago it was very desirable, and quite hard to find as well.

VSS can now be found in Convoys. i have two and i really didnt have to do much looting
to get mine

probably the guns exclusive to helicrash sites (fal, svd, aug, famas) as u need some luck to grab one.
the m4, akm, asval and vss are exclusive to the two contaminated areas. so if u visit just one of those zones, u have quite a good chance to grab sth good out of it. smaller lottery than the helis.

SVD and LAR, they spawn at heli crashes and in my experience they are the rarest guns, AUG's and M79 are also kinda rare at helis but i find them more oftern than the SVD or Fal which i only ever find at heli crashes on server wipe day.


The Val, Vss,M4 and akm are all easy to farm lots of them once you get an nbc suit, sometimes in rify i find all 4 at once plus suppressors and night vision optics.

The mil convoys are good as they can spawn the same stuff heli crashes and army trains but i think only one convoy is on the map at a time though so more elusive and time consuming to track down without a car.

The Aur Axe is pretty damn rare. I found one on the third floor of the underground bunker in livonia. It takes all the optics and the mags that the m4 uses and is much cooler looking.

This is how it is with me so, it's so true. Was looking for a shovel on a server for days, finally found not one but, 2. Both were badly damaged that when I tried to use one, it suddenly become ruined and dropped from my hands. Went to use the other one and the same thing happened. Now, I'm SOL and still looking for a shovel.

I think the M4 is easy once you get the NBC gear...i have found atleast 1 m4 every single time i ran RIfy...now the LAR and AUG AX are a different story....with my luck ive found 2 VSDs at back to back heli crashes...yet cant find a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ VSD mag

For real...guns very damaged cant find a gun cleaning kit....clothes damaged cant find sewing or duct tape....got a sweet gun cant find any mags for it....then on your next life or after you no longer need that item well ill be damned if you run into 10 of everything thing you no longer need

So true. Like I find a weapon, no mag and wish I had the weapon for the mag I had before I died. lol

Usually, the rarest gun in DayZ is the one you want for the moment. If you are actively looking for the M4 then that will be the rarest gun for you, it's the Law of DayZ.

Objectively though, looking at how the economy works, the M4, AKM and a few others share similar logic and will be equally rare/common. It's more that you need to know where and when to look for a specific weapon.

my dumbass as an M4a1, AKM with normalized suppressor, m70 with hunting scope and an ASVAL all on me currently...got a vsd with no mags....trying to get to a spot to desposit all my ♥♥♥♥ and hide it but its a real pain in the ass lol....and of course im not rocking any kinf ballistic vest lol
