ultra-long/slow loading times.

So I am not sure if it is just me, or if it is the game....but when I start any gaming session for DayZ, I typically see loading times of 3:00 or more when using either the Steam launcher or DZSA.

And I even have the game loaded on an SSD, and is almost the only other thing stored on that particular drive. Anyone have any idea why it takes so bloody long to load in to where I can start controlling my character?

Im about a min or under. I am no teck-y but I assumed it had a number of reasons. hd or ssd. internet speed, RAM. 3 mins seems a tad high. I reckon mods may be a factor too. (I use mods)

When I used to strictly play PVP I often worried about the time I loaded in and the time I seen myself loaded in. I went through a lot of care to log out in the "right place"

Yeah....I can't figure out why it takes so bloody long to get the game loaded. Even using DZSA to launch the game with the options to not have a splash screen, no benchmark, no pausing, running as admin...absolutely zero effect on the game CONTINUING to have all of them happen anyway.

The only thing I can think of are the server mods, but a lot of them are minimal and only help things run smoother on my server from what I am told.

I can confirm that some mods can seriously prolong loading times...did you test once without mods?

Lord....I know I should, but I kind of don't want to try because it took like 15 min to install all the server mods last time I did it.

I'm....impatient. lol

No need to redo your server, just jump on a vanilla server and see how long it takes.

Also you don't need to remove mods, just remove the mods in the command line in your server config and add them back in 1 at a time.

what are your system specs and current game settings, make sure you dont set them to high its best to start low and work up otherwise you bog your system down

watch a few tutorials about how to edit the settings file by opening it in notepad

also make sure you clean our your dayz temp folder on a weekly basis
that alone can make a huge difference

I think I discovered it is the mods slowing the loading down like it is though. But also, for the sake of being thorough...where is the DayZ Temp folder? Never knew there was one.

most people dont know about it and it ends up filling all your hard drive space and causes lots of problems.

Also in the server config you can change the countdown timer, that might help you also.

Streaming porn in the background can also affect load times, especially 4k VR. Just saying for a friend.

only certain things, the dayz_64 files, the script files and the activity files

Well...I kind of took the longer road lesser traveled. lol

Ran Bulldozer on my server, game crashed before it loaded in
Unsubbed from all mods
Ran Bulldozer again, crashed again
Uninstalled the game entirely
Deleted EVERYTHING in the DayZ Temp folder
Ran Disk Cleanup
Cleaned the registry
Restarted my PC
Reinstalled the game
Reinstalled only my servers mods (since I only play on one server at a time)

And now it no longer takes 3+ min to load.



It takes 2 minutes. lol But at the same time, my server apparently has just shy of SEVENTY mods...and they understand this is too many and are looking to make some drastic cuts to the total number of mods we have running.
