Loading screen stuck on Linux
So battleye proton runtime is now enabled for dayz.
But the game wont load for me.
The launcher errors with invalid height and starting the game clent directly freezes on the loading screen.
Any known fixes already?

Btw, game is running very well. With proton glorius eggroll version even FSR works. Much better experience in linux than in windows (at least for me).

This works for mod loading:

sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=262144

I had to double that number to get the game loading. Still had few crashes so I doubled it again. I've been playing few hours now it seems to be stable.

First launch after changing that setting got me past the loading screen (first time ever) and first three-ish seconds in the main menu followed by a freeze. Every next launch after that doesn't even show me the loading process only a black blank screen. Luckily I can alt tab and stop the process in the library page of steam. Tried with double value and half of the quoted.

Fastest way to have this run on startup?

Use your distributions sysctl config file
For example in ubuntu /etc/sysctl.conf:
max_map_count = 1048576

Got it to work after changing the value to 1073741824, until I died and tried to respawn. Trying to respawn froze my whole pc. Hasn't worked since despite trying everything (same value, different ones, rebooting).

Now i can frustratingly die again in dayz ^^

Any other updates on this front? Having the same issue as Crazy Drummer. No dice, even with the max_map_count adjustment.
