How avoid/cure vomiting sickess?

Every time I start a new character I always end up with getting sick and vomiting all of my food/water which ends up being fatal. I try to avoid to avoid the obvious things like getting cold in wet clothes, eating with bloodied hands, and drinking contaminated water but it still happens for some reason. When I search it on Google I just find posts saying that it goes away eventually but that never happens in my case and medicines are pretty hard to come by especially on the vanilla map. Are there any other ways to treat/avoid this?

one thing you didnt mention is if you are bandaging cuts with disinfected rags/bandages (if you dont it can lead to infection)

Stop eating guts/raw meat/rotten/unknown canned food.

Keep Keep food/water in the high white, pop a vitamin pill every now and again.

Medical supplies can be found in hospitals and med centres, I have found med centres at camps to be a good source of med loot as opposed to towns/cities.

Charcoal tablets help absorb any bad food/poisons you may eat, other wise you will need pills to treat your sickness.
