Dayz in 2560x1440
Hello Fellas, so some Player/Streamer play the Resolution in 2560x1440.
Why its "better" then 1980x1080 ?
Cheers

You mean 1920 not 1980, and it is because the game (and everything else) looks a whole lot better at higher resolution but you need a higher resolution monitor to support it, and it is more demanding on your GPU.

Dont know which platform but on youtube the 1440P streams are using a different codec which results in a much sharper image for the ones watching the stream.
Using 1080 will result in a very pixelated stream.

Is this also the reason why my clips in 3840x1080 are sharper since it shows in 4K?

i still have the Geforce GTX 970. Could be a Problem?

With that card you probably want to stick to 1080.
Yes 2K looks nicer but not worth a huge frame rate drop, assuming you got a 2K monitor ofc.

i have a gtx980ti and i play at 1440p buti dont do pvp, i dont have high enough frame rates for pvp as my frames can drop as low as 20. the highest i get is maybe 60-70fps. my monitor is 1440p 144hz

That is still just 1080p It may appear sharper to you because it is not so stretched as 3840 is on your screen because I think DayZ does not natively support that resolution. I think Dayz does 3840 2160 and at most 2560 1080 so it probably looks sharper at the 1080 for you as it is a native game resolution .

Should have put the cash into a GPU dude, that monitor is wasted on that hardware. If you get 60-70fps then a 60hz display is fine. FPS and hz should match or there will be "stutter" as the monitor only gets a new image every few refreshes, so 60fps on a 60hz, 144fps on a 144hz, 240fps on a 240hz etc

In the case of 20fps then your 144hz monitor is refreshing about 6 times before it gets a new image (frame) from the gpu. Thats what things like G-sync are for, it ties your monitors hz to your current fps to get rid of the disconnect. Or V-sync before it that just limited to 60 fps as most monitors were 60hz then.

@OP
In short more resolution = more pixels = sharper, more detailed image. Just like how 4k is sharper than 1080 (HD vs UHD). 1440p is a bit of a middle ground between the two.

Resolution should match your monitor resolution. If you have a 1080p screen then 1920x1080 is the best quality you will get, if you have a 1440p screen then you can run 2560x1440 as your top quality setting etc.

So the first question is does your monitor support 1440p?
Then its can your hardware drive 1440p? (resolution is one of the hardest hitting performance settings in games)

I built my pc in early 2016, there was no better GPU back then. I didnt have any monitor back then but i had a huge sony tv with very little input lag so i used it as a monitor. Years later i bought this 144hz monitor. I got a great deal on it, it was discounted by a huge deal because it supposedly had a scratch somewhere (never found it), its also a TN screen (i dont see a difference so why pay more) and its a fairly small monitor, but most importantly it has the GSYNC technology. Unfortunately, it doesnt seem to work with Arma engine because i still get frame rips in both Arma 3 and DayZ.

Yeah if its on deal or something its worth it for later. When you upgrade your rig you will be ale to take full advantage of it.

Just wanted to put the info about FPS and refresh rate out there so people understand a nice high res, high refresh monitor wont improve anything without the hardware to drive it properly :)

I'm the same mate, built my rig in 2015, getting old now. I75820K, 16GB GSkill, X99 chipset but only a GTX980. I run at 1440p. But I seem to do okay with the frames. I find the only one's that still use 1080p have rigs that can't do the framerate, it looks like crap.

Sure it does. Haven't you seen my screenshots? The only problem it has but that's a wide-screen problem is the item info sometimes goes over the edge of the screen.
Just wondering maybe YouTube thinks it's greater than 1080p when i upload since it's not a 1080p format.
