so always wring your clothes in between, get a fire going from time to time and sprint from cover to cover or from house to house.
you can also seek shelter under some trees.
the better your insulation/clothing gets and the higher your immune system (by eating, drinking, vitamins and heat) is boosted, the less relevant becomes rain.
with best insulation gear you can run for hours in the rain without getting cold (blue temp), even if your stuff is soaked.
btw
damp is ok, wet and soaked is bad.
you can catch quite a nasty cold, though, if your temperature stays too long in the blue.
Yeah, the coughing and sneezing is annoying, you won't make that mistake in a hurry after listening to that for 2-3 hours.. A motorbike helmet muffles the sound, so that's my go to if I get a cold at the start, which I nearly always do btw...
So, damp and cold isn't too bad, as long as I'm eating and keeping fires going. Fires are harder than they should be for me... I only have 9 matches left (and no other Firestarter stuff) and I'm so packed up with my nomadic lifestyle that I can't carry sticks around... and I prefer to do fires in sheds or indoors so as not to make myself a beacon to other players nearby!
Also there are clothes for rainy weather if you are afraid of getting wet.
Last weekend I pulled off a garage raid in Olzanka during a storm. On the way there I spotted smoke coming from one of the chimneys.
I didn't want to risk losing my grenades, so ignored it and proceeded with the raid. I figured the rain might muffle the booms and possible zombie screams just enough, so the players wouldn't locate me immediately.
I was inside in under a minute, and locked the doors behind me. I managed to grab a scout rifle, some nice ammo, and got a few grenades back for my effort.
I am not sure if it helps, But I eat a lot of vitamins. Rain, food, water.. it dont matter I am never sick. Not sure If have been sick this patch at all. I get scratched/bit wolves... Vitamins, I get scratched/hit by zombies. Vitamins. They are like tic racks for me. BUT I never get sick or infected.
My diet is meat and mushroom based. and water. I mostly only drink from wells, Which ofc I chlorine) I eat cooked food. AS far as Rain, I find just wringing out the three pcs u can. (Mask,shirt/jacket and pants) seems to be more then enough to keep me going.
According to the wiki, the well water is clean... that said, doesn't hurt if you've got em! I haven't found any chlorine so I stick to the Wells exclusively for water. Just found 50+ vitamins too, so I guess I'll start popping those too lol...
Crazy I got all the way to Vybor before finding *any* medicine besides charcoal (hitting clinics the whole way)
If you are near a clinic or hospital, check all the cars and the houses in immediate area. The loot table's "arc" seems pretty far and are just as likely to carry meds. Vitamins I find every where.
Bark and 1 stick make a hand drill kit. That will light your fire anywhere.. Always good to have..
Huh. That's good to know lol... I'll use the matches up, but at least there's a ready solution afterwards!
Being very well fed kind of deals with everything. I ran across half the map yesterday to explore in thunder and rain and did not catch a cold, I am always 80-100% on water and food. I am no longer having the problem of becoming sick all the time.
Drink well water and bake fruit/mushrooms and stock up on dry fruit and mushrooms and you will never go hungry. My mistake when I started out was that I never picked up dry edibles because I thought it made you sick, well it does not.
The problem with people saying that they get sick by well water is that they use a non- sanitized bottle, which will give you cholera.. You need to clean the bottle with alcohol or disinfectant spray to be sure that it is a clean bottle. Bottles and other things can spawn clean but it is a gamble.
