Question regarding Persistency Reset
In order to reset the Persistency timing of an entity, do I have to manually interact with it or is walking near it enough?

I just checked some of the persistency levels on the Wiki and they seem awfully short, 24 hours or a few days at best.
It doesn't happen often that I die so a shelter with a few stashed supplies on the other side of the Map I play on probably won't be frequented for a few days.
Would like to know if I have to go and manually touch everything in order to keep it from despawning.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you have to manually interact with "base objects". A buried stash will last 14 days. Dig them up once a week or so, and move an item in or out before reburying. Barrels, crates, chests and tents last 45 days I think. Occasionally touch them by moving an item in or out. The crafted shelters only last 7 days, so be sure to touch them frequently. Walls and towers last 45 days without interaction. Go around your base one wall at a time and place a nail in it and take it out before moving onto the next one. A backpack on the ground lasts something like 6 to 8 hours. Fire places and dropped objects only last a few hours at best, but the stone circle and oven can last a bit longer. The ultimate Base building move is to construct a flag pole. The flag will slowly lower over time and refresh all of the base object timers within 60 meters. It's bulky and challenging to build, but it can give you peace of mind while you travel about, letting the flag maintain your base.

Thanks a lot!

Guess I'll go through the effort of building a flagpole then, certainly don't want to keep track of different persistence timers.

I think if you focus your attention to 1 or 2 bases or hiding spots at the beginning, you will find yourself there quite frequently. On the other hand it's better to lose a crate or two than a base you spent 3 days looting for. I like crates..I have many.

Do you have to touch each item in a bag or crate? Or just the buried bag or crate itself?

Just the crate. You are right about spending time on caches. If u keep a few relativity close, its not so bad. But it can get outta hand for casual players/weekend warriors. Log in run here to check cache, then here, then there.. blah blah.. U spend more time caring for your objects then you do playing.

I think its worth the risk to build a small base, and log out with your valuable items at end of day.
