DayZ

My frames are locked at 30fps (new laptop with a GTX1070)
so my desktop has a normal plain 970 and i get great fps, like 100 plus. and the 1070 which runs great everywhere else but dayz is like locked at 30. if i change my settings, i see it jump to like 110fps then 90 then 70, then 45 then 30 and stays there... soooo idk but some help would really be good. graphics card drivers are up to date and just got this thing today. maybe a freamerate lock somewhere? or am i missing something. PLZ HALP!! :)

have you setup Nvidia control panel to use the high performance GPU and not the CPU graphics?
NathaN Oct 28, 2016 @ 2:16pm
Sometimes games default to the onboard graphics, dayz seems to do this for people. Just set it up and it should be fine.

so use my gpu as the main source and not the (auto) or (let computer decide) options? in the nvidia control panel?

yeah there will be an option somthing like.........use high performance nvidia graphics.....
and change all teh power options to maximum performance ....not power saving mode....

Laptops will always try to save power and limit the CPU and GPU.
Theres no place for saving power if you are interested in maximum FPS.

You can confirm its working by downloading HWMonitor ( or any other hardware monitoring program) and run it.
Play for a bit and then look at the usage. GPU and CPU should be used close to 100%

and your CPU should be running at 3.5 GHZ while playing.........or you have some power saving on your CPU still running

ok well i selected texture filtering and power management to max performance and still when i change settings in game, it jumps to over 100 then stablizes at 30 again.... :'(

yeah use whatever shows you gpu and cpu usage and how much mhz its running at.
also make sure the refresh isnt set to half or somthing silly in nvidia control....sometimes the laptop can set vsync to half teh monitors refresh.

Laptops usually does that to save power, have you tried gaming with the power connected to the wall?
Coyote_One Oct 28, 2016 @ 2:52pm

I have exactly the same problem as you. For a week, I turn around 20-30 frames per second in low quality while before I turn 60 frames per second in high quality. I did the same operations that you (I donwgrading the drivers, reinstall dayz). I even reinstall windows 10 but I still have the same problem.

My Spec :
I7-6700k
MSI GTX 980
8 Gb ram
Windows 10
