Trucks and barrels

Is it possible to use barrels as storage while they’re on the truck or do they have to stay empty? Is it just me that can’t use them for inventory?

Only empty barrels can be transported.

4 Useless 150 slot spaces taken up in the truck, would rather have 4 more creates @ 50 slots each than the 4 useless barrels.

theres attachments slots for barrels on the truck. when attached, u can put stuff in/out of the barrel(s) and transport them.

I’ve not managed to get anything in a barrel when it’s attached to the truck... thinking on it, bet the lid needs to be open?

Sorry, but I have a Truck on the server I play on, and the 4 barrels when attached are not accessible, not from any location around the truck.
If there is a way please feel free to post here how to do it, because I can't access the barrels when attached.

hmm i didnt drive the truck for a month or something. but i used it on chernarus and namalsk both. the barrels had to be open to access the items inside and u could only access it from the side or the back of the truck. also it was possible to carry a filled and open barrel. then i just carried a barrel yesterday and it wasnt possible at all (filled and open). so yea, thats a bit weird. both was with 1.10, so i dunno how and what changed.
edit: maybe its possible to drag and drop the open barrel on the attachment slot of the truck?

It's possible to use them for the truck. you need to put the barrel next to the truck and open it. then you drag the barrel (barrel itself not vicinity) into the slot. Now you have the extra 150 slots in your truck. (dont know if this works while its filled with water)

Are you by chance playing on a Namalsk server because that's a Namalsk exclusive thing iirc.

They're not useless, you can fill them with gasoline and that way you can travel long distances without running out of gas

BuildAnywhere_v3 mod allows full use of the barrels on a truck. However, I've never even seen a truck on official. Namalsk is a mod and not just a map so who knows what evil lurks within?

Confirmed this technique works on vanilla v1.16

u simply cant unfortunately in the vanilla game. not bein able to move a filled up barrel is ok as it might be just too heavy to lift. the game doesnt care if theres only a piece of paper in it or 500 boxes of nails.
but yea, we should be able to add a barrel with open lid to the truck and move stuff around at least.
some mods allow to move full barrels, like mentioned above the build-anywhere mod.
