how to change render distance.
hey me and my friend was running a long and he said hey i see the drop over there, and i was there for ages trying to see what he was looking at. shortly after i realised i cant see past about 650 meters but my friend could see about 850 easily why can he see so far but i cant

check these settings in your DayZ folder under documents:

sceneComplexity=1000000;
shadowZDistance=250;
viewDistance=3800;
preferredObjectViewDistance=3200;
terrainGrid=3.125;

they should look like this if everything is maxed out.

If you run a server you may also wish to look for these in serverDZ.cfg :
defaultVisibility = 2200; // 1375
defaultObjectViewDistance = 2200; // 1375

ah perfect. so on an rtx 2080ti whats a good distance i can get with good FPS

just take the settings above or set everything to extreme, you should easily get 60 fps in 4k or 144 fps in 1080p.

but as Mike implied most of the time view distance is limited server side anyway.
