Combat mechanics still very bad
I just want to ask if there will be a good change in the combate mechanics. It's still ♥♥♥♥... after all these years. Over all the game is better, and now the performance is very good. But the combat with the zombies... man... Devs look at other games like days gone. come on...

Their movement is clunky, the hit boxes are bad. Dont have special effects like lots of blood going out, head off, limbs. arms, etc. There is no impact of bullets in them. no physic reaction like in resident evil 2 or 3 (new examples), or left 4 dead. is dull. The melee combat is even worse. There is no way to push the guys out of the way for example. Its the only thing that kills the immersion. For me at least.

Not sure where your playing then.... zeds getting shot in the chest stagger them! Loads of blood.. if a zed is near an object the object get splashed with blood, and when they hit the ground a pool of blood spreads out from them. And yes.. if a zed is right on you, you can in fact push them back!

all valid points but the difference between the games you mentioned and Dayz is that Zombies are just requisites in this game while the map is the actual star.

I'd also love to see some combat a la 'Dying Light' but the engine wasn't designed for that.

try playing rust and then tell me the gunplay or combat mechanics of this game are bad. The ballistics modelling, gun models, character animations , player movement and network code are all quite good to be honest.

or to put it in other words:
this is a mmog where the main focus is on interaction with other players and the environment - Zombies are just a (minor) part of it.

Yeh that is true... I think it lacks some vision in the zombie department.

there's always room for improvements in everything ;)

but I think the Zeds do their job - they can distract you or even kill you if you're too cocky.
and melee combat can have quite some finesse also, as others already mentioned.
with the right timing and blocking you can walk nearly unscathed out of every fight.
