1. Modded or Unmodded (Official or Community)
2. Did you hear a shot or no? (Was the shot loud and then a delay, or no sound/a very faint ping)
2a. If you heard a sound, did it sound like a bullet hitting wood or dirt. Sometimes dirt is heard but not registered by you, the player, as you have to train yourself to listen for it
3. Were there shots before your death
As for the nature of dayz, sometimes, audio desync is a real thing. You could already be dead and never hear the shot due to the delay in which the sound is being processed. It happens. Furthermore, if you did come across a cheater or a player that is really good, well, it is DayZ. Never get attached to your gear. Its sometimes better to just move on, sometimes to an entirely new server, rather than try and contemplate what happened or how you died. Starting fresh happens, its part of the game. it sucks, but it does happen. Its also DayZ, famously buggy, glitchy and weird sometimes. Sometimes, you cant explain what happened. it is what it is
(I'd just change server if it happens too often)
Thank for such extended reply and your time ..
server un-modded and not shot and shot hitting the wall ether...
thank you for your time and reply
i will try alternative server but the sad part is that i am a solo player i managed to build my base and am pretty stable to on this server
going on a new server it going to be hard but its dayz right we are hardcore ply :)
I'm also a solo player but I never build bases for that reason.
if you like base building I'd recommend a modded server with admins, some even have raiding disabled.
That being said, after this happens 2-4 times in a row. You really got to think.. hmmm maybe you really did meet one of these Cheats. and it is time to switch server. Was your base raided after you got killed? Sometimes it is best to cut your losses. Repetitive unexplained deaths can effect the psychs. and may even turn you sour to the game. and that is really the true crime here. making good players leave the game.
is the round PASSING you. You would hear the shot a second or two AFTER.
Same as you would IRL.
Yes you can be shot in most buildings. Most have windows you can shoot through
Most sheds have weak walls you can shoot through. You can shoot through small
cracks in walls, you can shoot through any gap you can see through.
What did you do? Combat log? or log out in a busy place like a military building?
I stopped logging out in high traffic buildings after logging in and finding a gun pointed at me. I was fortunate enough not to die but it made me think twice about where I log.
As for suddenly dropping dead...it happens when a sniper kills you. If its happening a lot on a particular server I would find a new server with an active admin. It would be a shame to loose all that time you put into a base but as there was a wipe last update (and more to follow) it shouldn't be too big of a deal. Added bonus is that some of the community servers don't do a full wipe when official does, which is great for base builders.
seriously, like others said, not every death where you don't hear a sound has to be a cheater.
there are suppressors in this game, bullets travel faster than sound etc.
only if you die in the same (inexplicable) way a couple of times in row there might be something suspicious going on and it's time to change server.
I'm spawn in shed and hear a gun shot.....dead
may be hacker
