DayZ

Sound very low in game
Have been playing DayZ in the last day after spending time playing other games I also want to get to.

I instantly noticed how low the ambient volume is in DayZ compared to other games and I have turned the volume up as far as it will go on my PC and in the game.

Any suggestions here?

It is only DayZ that is really quiet compared to other games...

it's a windows thingie...check for any updates and your windows sound settings, especially the extensions.
they may have reset after a win update.

Thanks but I don't think this is the case since it is literally only DayZ that has this issue

I know, I had the same issue two or three time already (everytime after a win update) and yes, only DayZ was affected.

ast gives solid advice.. Even if you think it sounds stupid, Just remember it is DayZ after all.

I hate how sound works in this game. I am in constant need for adjusting volume or using earplug mod. There is no happy medium for me. I play on a HC survival server with very little of everything. If I want to eat I have to hunt, If I am hunting I need to hear, so sound goes up.
Then I shoot my gun and the whole house wakes up. LOL

open Dayz, alt tab out, right click the speaker bottom right icons (Near Clock), open volume mixer, find dayz and turn it up!!
Good Luck!

That's exactly why its probably the case...

Thanks for the tips all, I don't think ast is stupid or giving stupid advice, it's just that this simply isn't the issue and I have already eliminated everything suggested here.

There is an old Reddit post saying to change cfg settings but they don't appear to be the same now (assume it is due to a new engine).

It seems DayZ just has a lower default volume than other games... it isn't the end of the world but I do wish it was not so quiet as I love the ambient wind sounds etc

Then again it's an issue you have on your rig that others don't have...

Well Google is your friend here - it appears low volume in DayZ IS an issue that other have had. The fact it is ONLY on DayZ would suggest it is an issue with DayZ rather than my PC which doesn't have this issue in any other game

Yet 1000s of other don't have the issue...
Don't matter what's the cause, it's still a rare issue others don't have.
asts suggestion was the most obvious solution, since windows messes up volumes pretty much each update, but luckily not a problem for me :)

If you have nothing of use or helpful to respond with, don't bother thanks

You could just delete the dayz folder and let it recreate it? under documents?
also the sound has been moved to the username_settings.DayzProfile
open it with notepad and you can see the master volume options.
Good Luck!

You sir, are an absolute legend!!

This is exactly what I was after and it has completely sorted this issue to the point where I now have to turn my headphones down a bit so it isn't too loud. Changing the value from 10 to 50 seems to have done it.

Thanks again!

oc this is the first thing to do beside verifying your files if anything is messed up with the game.
