Does wearing a balaclava or ski mask increase your chances of getting killed by a player?

If you saw a guy in a ski mask or a balaclava in real life walk up and try interact with you it clearly adds an element of fear ofc it will increase the chance of you being KOS'D people won't trust you as much.

Not even that per se, for example earlier I saw a dude (as I was killing infected) and tried to run away. The guy ran after me and tried to stab me! Another time I was killing infected and was looting one of the infected and got shot from afar somewhere. IDK if it is normal kosing, but both times I was wearing a fire helmet, (sun)glasses and a balaclava or ski mask.

Not sure about getting shot on aight, sure helps you not getting noticed so easily. Good tradeoff if you ask me.

wearing a mask makes you look more menacing and other players will be less reluctant to kill you.
keep your face (and mind) open...give the world a smile and it'll smile back at you ;)

(Balaclavas might give you a concealment bonus and additional warmth when it's cold but they're a pain in the ass when it's raining - always the first thing that gets soaked up and needs wringing)

So not really at this point imo. There used to be a time where your gear was a fairly quick tell of your character.

I.e hockey masks and such were always KoS bandits.

I don’t know if this mentality is still there.

Personally, I play dayz like fashion souls. I.e I want my character to look swag asf. Regardless. Normally that involves bandanas and semi-matching camos

I wear one but am friendly. Keeps I warm. Players with motorcycle helmets I'm always wary of though as they come off as not wanting to talk due to the muffled sound they make. Maybe newer players don't know this though.

I got KOSed less when I wore the motorbike helmet. It might just be a case of bad luck though. (I got KOSed twice in the same day using the Balaclava with Firefighter helemet and Sunglasses.) Then again, I recall me and a dude getting seal team six KOSed after we went ham crazy on some infected (we had like 70 shotgun shells and decided to go crazy on the infected). It could be just chance. (In both cases with the balaclava firefighter sunglasses combo I was also out killing some infected)
