Xbox controller on pc

Can any1 tell me how to crouch and go prone? I'm new on dayz, on pc, also if someone can tell me how to use emotes I can't seem to figure that 1 out too. I've pressed all buttons looking to see if I can find it but same as crouching and going prone Idk. (I'm using an xbox controller) I can't use keyboard n mouse, can't get used to it and I don't even have a mouse but even if i did i still wouldn't want to use them

check your control settings, you can configure your controller there.

but I'm afraid you'll still have to use at least a keyboard for some specific functions.

That's the thing i dont understand is when i played on ps4 all the buttons were mapped just fine and i didn't have a issue but on pc the controller buttons are all jumbled. I've also tried using the 3 alternative options that are given but all are the exact same configuration im really confused

I have an Xbox controller, too and the buttons are mapped just fine and logically...dunno how it is on PS4, though.
just set your controls to default and movement, shooting and most other actions work well, in fact the fluid movement feels a lot better with controller and the aiming isn't that bad, either.
and last but nor least I could recommend everyone a controller for driving...
the only grain of salt is that you have to use your mouse for managing inventory and keyboard for accessing hotbar slots (if I didn't overlook something).

I'm using the xbox controller, I just mentioned ps4 because I found it easy & what I was saying was is why isn't there an option in the keyboard mapping "xbox1 controls" if u get what I mean. But u said "set your controls to default" I have! O.o
There's 3 default options, 1 is called keyboard and mouse, the other was just called, user , and the other was called, crtl1 , but all were mapped exactly the same (yes I applied the settings before exiting settings) but they were identical each time, what am I missing, that's what's confusing me because the 3 options should be slightly different to 1 another. Sorry for asking, but you're the only 1 that answered when I asked in dayz forum nobody responded x__x

that are just three different profiles you can configure to your liking but they have no specialized presets as you noticed - all is left to your own.
keep in mind that Dayz on PC is designed for KB+M and controller support is just slapped on, so to say.
and as I mentioned, the game isn't playable with controller alone (you're also missing the zoom-in function or the free look among others in default settings).
sure you can remap important functions but there'll never be enough buttons to cover everything.
I'd recommend getting used to KB+M and using a controller only for driving/ flying.

U say the game isn't playable with controller but when I was on ps4 the controls were fine & had everything mapped great so I find it odd that if it can be done on there why not pc? Also I don't have a mouse x__x
But you're probably right I should try get used to using KB+M, I guess I'm just resisting it because I was lifelong console player so its going to make me ATROCIOUS at fighting, ughh I dread it. On ps4 I was pretty decent but learning new controls ahhh, I'm going to be like as tho a person who's never played any video games like that level bad, oof 😣

yeah, that's because (controller) controls are optimized for consoles but not for PC.
as I mentioned, they're more of an addon for PC...
cursor movement in inventory by controller is not supported on PC as I see it, so there is no way around getting a mouse.

the game itself has a steep learning curve and struggling with controls won't make it easier.
maybe hone your KB/M skills first in some easy shooter and not a permadeath game where you lose everything...just my 5 cents, though.
but trust me, after a while you'll appreciate the superior mouse control (in terms of reaction and accuracy).

regarding your first question:
press B once to crouch, hold B to go prone, emotes is D-pad right.
