How do i destroy a sheet metal gate?

I got an axe and a saw but i get no option to dismantle anytrhing?

You must hit it with any tool normally using aim and left mouse button. But this takes 5 or more tools to destroy just half of a metal wall.
Or just throw 4 or 5 grenades on it or you must shoot 500 rounds of ammo or more

You must hit the pole with metal wire around it.
This way you destroy the gate so you can destroy actuall fance

When it comes to a gate you say hit the pole with wire instead of main part of gate?

I tried twice now and put most of my effort into the main part of the fence, I needed a boatload of tools and a couple frags to break it

Beacouse you canot destroy frame until metal wire is gone.
You can only destroy walls..

problem for me was that the pole with the wire frame was behind a wall, they closed off the entrance to an castle tower, so i gave up after some time because i was not sure how to pogress.

only way in then is to throw grenades, first both walls get destroyed then metal wire then frame
