DayZ

Understanding the developers
I am not sure if many people will understand this,I may not even be able to explain it well myself. So apologies.

I was a dic|{ to the developers and critical of them for a bit now.
Maybe shouldn't have been.

Why?

I forgot that the original dayz obviously wasn't a stand alone.
The Dayz Arma 2 Mod,exactly what it meant.
I expected these dev's to basically recreate the arma 2 experience, not the Dayz experience.
Meaning....
A 99% of the content of Dayz Mod,was obviously Arma 2...Other than the zombies and very few features it offered..
So it will probably be a very long time before we see things like heavy armor, the easy snap building that arma 2 featured. The helicopters, jets ,and even AI patrols in this game.
I wouldn't hold it against them if it didn't even amount to that.

I understand that these developers just can't hijack and essentially steal Arma 2 developed content,I mean that would be great and convenient if they could somehow introduce Arma Licensed / Developed BTR'S,Tusks,SU- Russian heli's and Jets into the standalone.Since they don't have it in their priorities to even make these vehicles from scratch anyways.
I have seen this game come a long way,but I came to realize it will never be Dayz Standalone featuring all the content above anytime soon.
Am I wrong? Anyone commenting should make sure they have played the original Arma 2 Dayz Mod before ripping this post to pieces, and speaking on it when they have no game time in what I am speaking of.

Do you think it will ever be a finished product even?
It's common , especially for Arma 2 ..notoriously...was never finished.Infact neither was Arma 3.
I wouldn't hold it against Dayz SA to remain in a forever unfinished but changing beta minus all the things that attracted people to it in the first place.
Going from all the available arma 2 vehicles to 1 or 3 vehicles in Dayz SA is pretty sad.The cars are a joke in this game, they handle very poorly but at least we have them I guess.

Well, err, snap building wasn't in the vanilla mod in the early days when the SA was announced (did it ever make it into vanilla post 2013?) nor was it in Arma. BTRs, Tusks, SU-Russian choppers, and jets were not in the original mod either.

BI, the developers of DayZ, could easily port old models to the game if they chose to so that doesn't matter at all. The fact is, they're building DayZ, not some mod of DayZ that you may have accidentally confused with DayZ itself.

A developers that actively builds onto its game is a good thing, whether anyone thinks it's "finished" or not.

Well OP I think you're actually confusing Dayz EPOCH for the actual DayZ mod that started it all.

There was no building never mind building snap, the only things I remember being buildable where tents, stashes and even hesco barriers and barbwire fencing ( the last two never lasted beyond a single server session).

You will never see things like BTR's, jets and so on as this is a survival game not an addition to a military simulation.

Arma 2 DayZ and DayZ are only really similar by name and people wanting things like traders, snap build and military vehicles like BTR's are forgetting what made DayZ awesome.

It had nothing to do with number of guns, how many vehicle types you had or anything ( as Arma had it all and just look how many different versions followed dean's original ) but the idea of starting with nothing but a bandage, 1 clip and a pistol ( and even that was too much for the majority of hard core survivalists ).

Ultimately the amount of "content" that was disabled from the base game back then in the dayz mod was staggering when you look at all that Arma 2, operation arrowhead and other expansions offered, a small number of guns, two ( maybe three ) helicopters and nothing "high grade ".

No stingers, javlins, no armoured vehicles, no AS50's no huge selection of helicopters, no jets, no snap build, no AI patrols and no traders were ever part of the original ( that sort of stuff reminds me of an EPOCH server that had so many mods it nearly crashed servers upon loading, so much additional military content that it could barley be called DayZ ).

DayZ it is, it's not EPOCH, overpoch, origins, Namalsk or any other follow on ( while I do admit they could learn a thing or two from Namalsk and origins having a sort of zombie class system even if that was just regular and how much ammo did I just use to take that out ) but then we do have wolves, bears will be comming and other things to make the survival in DayZ seperate and unique from mod versions.

I hope that people stop looking at other for want of better words rip off versions of the DayZ mod and remember the original, this game started with that as an essential base line of what we have and have to come.

If you want a stroll down memory lane It's available on steam the original mod although I'm sure it has continued to evolve over time....

At this point they just want a solid fondation for the game, people will basically adjust whatever experience they want with mods and private servers.

The vanilla mod on Arma 2 quickly became boring when things like Origins and Epoch started.
