0.63 My stick swings insteed of poking?
Do we get the old poking attack back, or is swinging the new way?

Will all Melee Weapons be swinging weapons?

I think the reason the pitchfork is out and you can't craft the spear yet is that the thrusting animation isn't implemented yet. They will all be back at some point. Until then the poking stick is a swinging staff...

i dont like the new melee system at all... there is no colission feedback and the fights are just dumb swinging without any tactics...

pls devs change this

My feelings are the opposite. Combining heavy attack with normal attack, sidestepping and blocking makes for a much more rewarding melee system. I've survived fights against as many as six or seven infected, the two-handed axe swing seems to be able to damage more than one target. Can't wait to get my hands on the sword once it is back.

In the old system you just spammed the same attack non-stop while running back and forth, it was not very good at all.

That's just because the system isn't complete yet, in close proximity you'll be able to smash the knife dude in the face with your weapon instead, staggering him for long enough for you to shoot - or smash him again.

well i didnt like the old one either... :D but at least it had a hit-feedback...

with the new one, when i melee zombies it feels like im drifting in the zeds, its no fun at the moment... scum does a way better job when it comes to melee combat... you can throw every meleeweapon and depending on the the weapon it stucks in the enemy..

a good melee combat system needs more varietiy.. swinging, poking, throwing and of course a satisfying collision- and hitfeedback.. really hope that we will see this in the future

Yeah, the forward movement when swinging is annoying, when I've aggroed a few zeds I like to back into a doorway so they can't get at me all at once, if I swing more than twice in a row I'll step out of the doorway and expose myself. So it is swing, step back and block, swing and so on. And hit feedback is probably in the works, it would be strange otherwise.

If your stick can't poke and only swings, see a doctor.

In all seriousness, that's probably the case of a missing animation. Will be fixed.
