i dont have anything about dayz in documents
If verify doesnt help, use windows search to find a dayz folder which contains a dayz.cfg
i found the dayz.cfg file it says its in documents/dayz but there is not folder like this
i made so i can see hidden folders but still nothing
i found the cfg file do the tings you told me to but still settings resetting i verified the files and still nothing, i dont know where is the problem
Try deleting the entire DayZ folder from your users directory (without Steam running). Then go into Steam and Verify all files and validate. This usually fixes it for me, but honestly I have had that issue from time to time for YEARS. Never found a good solution.
When it gets bad, I just uninstall, remove each and every file or folder named DayZ after uninstall (search in Windows explorer and delete them all). Also remove registry entries for DayZ (search regedit). And reinstall. Helps to unsubscribe from ALL Workshop mods first for some reason.
Once reinstalled, BEFORE launching DayZ, ensure Steam Cloud is disabled. Try launching. Good luck!
This problem is caused by Onedrive which hijacks file path to Documents folder and at the same time restricts DayZ from creating an entry. Even unlinking from OneDrive does not restore local file path.
To solve it, open DayZ launcher and go to Parameters->All Parameters.
Basic-> Name your profile
Advanced-> Profile Folder: manually set path to any local folder (I set my local Docs folder in users data).
Enjoy not having to change the settings upon login.
