If you play on official:
- Yes, you have to find eachother or get lucky and spawn near eachother. (or just keep suiciding until you spawn close to eachother.)
- You stay together as long as you stay in the same server you're currently on, if you join a new one (has to be the same hive to keep your current character) you'll get a random spawn again.
- If one person dies they'll get a random coastal spawn and the surviving member wil have to run back to the coast to find the other person.
Modded:
- There's some mods that allow you to form parties, which does make it easier to find eachother but you'll still have to run towards eachother or respawn until you spawn near eachother.
