Vomiting to Death
Hi there, while playing yesterday, one of my team mates got ill pretty fast. We were all fine, no cold, no infection when on t he way back to our base he suddenly started to vomit. he drank a bit to not loose to not dehydrate as he didn‘t have too much water left. Then he vomited again and started loosing health. We tried to gave him some water again, but not too much, gave him meds a saline bag to prevent him to get dehydrate. But nothing helped and he finally died.

Was it because he tried to drink after vomiting or what could have been the problem leading to this?
Thanks for all the help in advance

Better ask him.

Did he drink from a pond, lake, river? Did he drink from a bottle or canteen without purifying the content or switching it with clean water from a pump?
Did he have bloody hands when he ate something?

When you get ill, you periodically vomit. Drinking / eating too much will encourage it I think. He needs to take charcoal tablets. But the illness icon goes away after a while, I think, if you keep healthy enough?

only eat and drink tiny amounts when you're sick so you don't throw up again.

but do this very frequently, like every two minutes or so and you'll stay alive.

Negative, only clean water from pumps. And once back he took meds just in case it was dirty water that he drank

He took the tablets, but that it gets such bad that he dies from it in a matter of a few minutes?

depends on your overall condition...always take some vitamin pills to improve it.

Was it the right medicine though?
And as mentioned above. If your overall health was too low it will take more pills to make you more resistant to illness.

Everything in game is accelerated. I have yet to see anyone complain about it being unrealistic that you just have to put some unsterilized rags over a gunshot wound and call it a day.

This.

As long as you're sick it's difficult to keep food&drink level stable. It gets even harder when vomiting. So priority should be to prevent losing calories needlessly.

And like Enforcer says you need the right medicine. It's not always easy to know what made you sick. Best way to deal with is to carry all available medicine with you at all time. Until then you wanna be careful with whatever it is you're doing. Can't hammer this enough, to be prepared in this game is everything. Dead sometimes lurks in the least expected corners.

As i said, he was fine all the time then all of the sudden started to vomit without previously drinking or eating too much, or being sick.

He wasn‘t sick when he started vomiting but how is it possible he died from it within just a few minutes? and once we got back he too charcoal tablets in case he drank unpurified water from the bottle.

Well then he must have drank or eat too much causing him to throw up i would assume..

I suppose his body dried up figure of speach, by vomitting excessively. I once seen half my health vanish with one throw up when it was already hard enough to keep drink&food levels from dropping too fast. When you're in that situation dead is emminent.

Once you're sick, i'm not sure charcoal is gonna help you much to heal back. You can't be sure of what caused him to be sick either.

there is no indicator for your general resilience, just assume it's pretty low in the beginning, like everything else.
it'll build up the better you are nourished and you can also push it with vitamins.
the better your overall resilience, the lower the probability you'll catch something, just like in RL.

charcoal tablets are mainly for food poisoning/ Salmonella.
if you drink unpurified water you might catch a virus that can only be cured by antibiotics (Tetracyclin tablets).
as mentioned before, if you're not sure what got you, taking a combination of all available meds does no harm (except drinking alcohol tincture or disinfectant :steammocking:)

Did you survive it? Or do you know a way to stop loosing health, cause u can‘t drink or eat in that moment, it will make u more sick
