DayZ
Weapon Sway
Has anyone figured out how to mod this? Recoil and sway on most guns is horrible.

Are you aware of the fact that weapon sway can be lowered significantly by holding your breath (ctrl by default) at the expense of your stamina?

Even then, the sway can still be pretty horrendous

Yes this I am aware. They changed it to make it more realistic and I don't think any of them have ever fired a gun before.

I don't think it's realistic unless you have some kind of muscle problem. It's more a gamey balancing thing that caught on across the shooter genre at some point.

Well the sway is unrealistic from my experience.

I could be blind drunk and still hold a weapon steadier than a DayZ char. But, what annoys me even more, is tying breath holding time to stamina. If you are carrying a lot of gear you cannot snipe, to the point that I wont put important gear in a backpack and will take it off before shooting. This is just dumb. I much preferred the way Arma worked, ie weapon sway was tied to how depleted your stamina was, that is if you are breathing hard you get lots of sway. If you are still and full stamina, you should be able to hold your breath same amount of time regardless of how much you are carrying. It just makes no sense. The least they could do is give us a bipod attachment for steady aim from prone, but firing from prone is broken too. I've never met a single shooter who holds a weapon out of plumb, ie scope crosshairs vertical. Reduce the arc of the available swing, and keep it flat regardless of shooters posture on the ground would be much more realistic. IMHO, they just want to nerf sniping and make it more run and gun/twitch based for the CoD kiddies that make up the majority of today's gamer base. Otherwise they might complain...

I have been shooting since I can remember and have shot a few of these guns in real life and the game mechanic they have for it is total crap.

Last time i played ArmA 3 it was way better...still gamey but was better and you had the ability to rest the firearm which helped quite a bit.
I don't have a year long shooting history but from ages of plinking i can say that games pre "hold breath" and "pre weapon sway" felt more real lol.

Any idea why the bipod was removed? I think they should have settings for this stuff.. We do not need to nerf sniping as we do not shoot each other on my server. Say :
weaponSway = 1; and have like 0 for none 1 for stable 2 some sway 3 I am epileptic sorry. ( what we have now.)
Settings devs... We have config files for a reason.

Put all your heavy stuff that you don't need to have on you at the time in your backpack and dump your backpack in a bush...
