Picking up fruits

Hi
I am new to the game and dont know how to collect apples from trees. When i found one of those there were no apples below the trunk so i decided to wait for them to appear. I gave up after 10 minutes. What might I do wrong?

If there none on the ground then just move on, keep looking around under the fruit trees and you will start to find them. Don't bother with 'ruined' or 'rotten' fruit, would probably make you sick, but raw or dried fruit is fine.
For some reason nowadays the large orchards do not seem to produce anything, so I don't waste my time looking there, but when you see a couple of fruit trees around a house, check them out.

Yeah, don't wait for them. The trees are everywhere, just keep looking.

find a fishin pole a hook n a knife dig up a worm with knife put them all together n fish way easyer lasts heaps longer to and some vitamins , if u eat raw youll be ok , just dont eat to much food at a time afterwards or youl throw up then sickness kicks in big time without vitamins ,fruit seems to last few minutes and not worth the effort

As long as you know what trees to look for and pick up fruits and mushrooms along the way, they keep you topped off while you go from town to town and it won't be much trouble to collect them. They're not going to fill you up, but they will maintain your current levels nicely. Either fishing or cooking up some chickens should be the first main meal you look for to get the bars filled. Then you can just eat the fruits and such to stay there, keeping a few canned things for emergencies.

I have read that a lot of new players find it difficult to face hunger and thirst problem, so maybe its a matter of time and played hours in my case too.

agree.....i bought the game recently...i spend already like 40h, found 2 pears and 1 apple :)

Meanwhile my bags are often full of apples, pears, plums or mushrooms. At least I always have a few extra that I don’t immediately need.

i see mushrooms everywhere. I havent seen a fruit from a tree in hundreds of hours

I have only found a good lot of apples once in Kamishovo, off the main road just behind a house heading towards the police station. For some reason it spawned a whole lot of them on the ground

But generally I wouldn't count on finding fruit as a reliable source of food...

I use this particular map when navigating. One thing I like about it, is that tree locations are marked. This way, I can be sure to cross the forest edges where the trees are or pass through clusters of them or at the very least plan a route that takes me past some. By doing so, I open myself to the highest possibilities of finding them. In doing so I tend to get quite a few. It actually gets to the point I stop picking up the dried ones as well and stick just to the raw ones.

because u or someone else was in that area and made the fruits spawn.
no fruits at trees? move away and loot surrounding buildings, go back few mins later -> tons of fruits will have spawned.

same with mushrooms. if u run thru the forests u wont find a single one. but if u stay around in an area they will start spawning around u. we had a base in the woods, building, and the amount of mushrooms that spawned around over time was insane.

That totally makes sense when I think about it as I did pass the area where I found them all while looking for a knife and returned back there when I heard a chicken (had just spawned so was on a food hunt).
