Little to no loot

I started playing yesterday after I found out that Dayz has officially launched. I have played about 10 hours(150 hours total). Started North-East near Svetlo and I went west passing about 7-8 towns and a military base up north. I arrived at the airfield afterwards but the only thing I found was something similar to a UMP without any mags or ammo. I only found 2 pistols and 1 mag during these 10 hours. Is this normal for there to be so little loot?

It's not that I don't know the map, I played alpha for about 130 hours. What I'm trying to say is that I searched the whole main airfield and another military base up north and have found nothing. I remember dayz having a lot more loot than this. Idk if it's the game or maybe the servers I'm playing on but there should be a lot more than just 1 UMP in the main airfield.

Loot has moved north west. Head up to tisy military base. Tisy is supposed to be the BEST spot for loot

You do realize that other players using the same route and going to the same place farm a lot of loot out before you get there. There is a huge map out there, no problem looting up if you know the where to go parts of the map other than the everyone else goes where you are going spots. And loot is far more than the super duper weapons for the PvP game. Police stations even out in rural nowhere have MP-5's and pistols galor as well as all the 9mm and .380 ammo you need. Rural farm houses M91/30s and shotguns, as well as ammo for both.

But if you are just looking for M4's and AK's, yes following in the tracks of those who have farmed the area before you got there.....good luck.

I just started playing again and modded servers are great.

Guide to food n' loot.
1. Get a steak knife.
2. Kill everything (mostly zombies)
3. Loot everything.

Congratz. You now have loot. Now move to the next named location and try not to get killed

I had the same problem, game likes to spawn you on paths that have already been looted. Just kept respawning untill i was in an out of the way place, not the giant cities on the coast.

Look at the map online and avoid every industrial place. No ammo, no food, no weapons and they are huge. Police stations, military outposts sometimes have weapons. Peoples homes have weapons, but you are not going to find an assault rifle.

So I'm fully geared now with an m4 and ak but it seems like food and other items dont spawn as much as in alpha, anyways thanks for all the replies.

DayZ is not like other FPS. Spawn with little. strive to survive, then rise to thrive. Get away from the spawn area, at all cost. get hydrated, energized, and RUN. Once you're clear of spawn, you'll notice an increase in the quality of available items.

just looted zelenogorsk on a full server, the place was teeming with loot, also the base west of myshkeno is hot too
