It is currently unknown. The developers haven't yet published a 2019 roadmap for DayZ.
Wait until they do and then make a decision.

The game runs well but in the earlier patch there were some server persistence issues caused by game crashes and some incompetent server administrators. You had to search for good servers and avoid the bad, which is time consuming.

This is a massive multiplayer online open world survival game. You run around trying to find items and gear, avoid, befriend or combat against other players and explore the map. There are also Zombies near towns controlled by AI, but they are kind of stupid or cheating right now.

It is like asking if apples taste good.

I bought the DayZ standalone since it first got released in 2013 and I am still playing the game, so to me, it is well worth the money, definately.

Edit: I am also gonna buy it for the PS4 console once it gets released.

I also bought DayZ for 23,99€ during christmas 2013 and it was worth it.
However for double the price I have no idea. Just wait for the 2019 roadmap.
Thanks for the comments

So is it more PVE or PVP based, or is that dependent on servers?

I am really only into the PvE anyway, with at most a few PvP fights so any insight and opinions are welcome

PvE or PvP depends on how many are playing on the server. You can play on servers with low population to eliminate PvP almost entirely. There are also community servers that prohibit PvP.

I'd say both. I am playing lone wolf, scavenger type of play so it's really mixed. You stumble across players on certain hotspots like military camps, airfields etc which may or may not lead to a exchange of bullets. If you are playing alone, a good tip is to avoid confrontation unless you can ambush or approach and make contact without the risk of being shot. Using binoculars/scope and avoiding open fields will make you survive, I have lived with my survivor for more than a month now even though I often go to 'dangerous areas'

I am playing vanilla, official servers.

PvP all the way. The zombies are few and stupid and get caught on every other fence or house corner. There are animals for hunting, but most of the crafting doesn't work yet. It also has unreliable persistance (storage), desynced vehicles and poor base-building. It's all defininitely still in early development stage, Bohemia just chooses to call it Beta now.

Wait for the full release, a 50% off special, and hope for modding and the game could be worth it. Would never buy this for over 30$ - I have no idea what makes the devs think Dayz is worth that kind of money; especially in its current state.
I just built my first gaming PC and I switched from PS4 and I always loved 7 days to die on console even though it is truly an awful console port, but i aloways enjoyed playing wityh a few people due to the limit of 4 players per game on PS4 lol

I have been heavily into BR since Fortnite/H1Z1 released on PS4 and I have played Siege and Battlefield for years and I am really just looking at options for cool games to play, (for anyone curious PS4 H1Z1 did not come with the zombie PvE mode at all, unlike PC which just split into two titles.)

I am also thinking about getting Rust if anyone has opinions on Rust and whether this or RUST is better. Note: I have tried ARK and hate it, would not consider Atlas either, but I would also like opinions on Conan exiles if anyone has them as that seems cool too. I do not know if these are all considered the same genre really, but I am real interested to try some new games past BR and FPS titles.

i 100% agree with you, but the game is already released, its in 1.0.. beta is over since 13th of december 2018...

this game is hard to recommend in this recent build...

in my opinion, the game is not even beta-worth, it should be still in EA...

is it optomized decent or?
Mr Chow Feb 6, 2019 @ 4:13am
it aint worth 50$ alot of content missing and persistance is a problem all that hard work looting and storing for it to just vanish ,i think it was better 2 years back.
Akula755 Feb 6, 2019 @ 5:20am
its not worth it, don't waste your money, tell others to stay awy from buying it
