DayZ
What's the point of building a base if others can destroy it?
Is it true that in official servers it takes 1min to destroy a piece of base wall?
So what's the point of building a base in DayZ?
I build a base, I log off, and when I'm back it's been destroyed by others...
Certainly I won't store anything in the base, cause it will get stolen right?
So what's the point? Am I missing something?

The point is to fortify, not create an impenetrable fortress that needs no guards. If you wish for that type of experience, i wish for you to search for community servers that are modded to fit your playstyle more closely

I'd like to say that we've hit a pretty good balance of effort to build vs effort to raid. We have disabled all breaching tools besides sledgehammers and C4, both of which are quite rare. Breaching a base takes effort and coordination, and while it definitely does happen, 90% of the time its due to poor base design.

Agree though that vanilla is garbage and horribly unbalanced.

Or maybe it's not supposed to be a base-building game

Does anyone play the empty-of-loot-but-full-of-bugs-vanilla-crap besides the hackers?

It's not poor base design if someone can destroy it from the outside. Bases should never be safe.

OP if you want a secure space to stash your loot just place crates in secluded locations. Even barrels work. I even put crates in places near hotspots on servers where i know players go but nothing looted yet. Just use your fantasy.

You can glitch crates into some of the atticks of the buildings. Good place to hide gear near the coast

I put barrels on top of the fridge in one of those log houses. Since they always leave the door open they can't see it and barely anyone looks behind that door.

I always check behind the door because occasionally useful stuff does spawn on the top of the fridge.
I stopped burying stuff in crates on official servers because of hackers using esp to dig up all my crates. BeeDubs server is solid, bases are raidable but not without effort or resources expended by the raider. Currently vanilla requires no effort to raid other than finding a commonly available tool and no time. So why spend any time or effort collecting resources to build a base in vanilla only to have it taken in minutes while you’re offline?

I'm on a server where it takes 15mins to break a gate or wall and it can only be done with a sledge hammer and it ruins it after one use. So if you have 3 gates it takes the raiders 45mins. The sledges are super rare and have a max amount on the server at any given time. So big raids take face to face trades to get enough sledges to hit the huge bases.

there's... a good reason why raiding bases in dayz is so easy now. BECAUSE THEY LAG DOWN THE SERVER. if everyone who happens to come across a server build a gate into a barn and parks 5 barrels and a car in it, then there are going to be serious performance issues. Ever had that loading in lag? That really annoying one that every single time causes you to crash. Yeah, that thing. Network bubble doesnt really like large bases
