When I'm playing on my super low end laptop (like now) a lot of stuff doesn't render when it's some distance away. This seems to be true even when I'm looking though a scope. Grass is especially prone to disappearing at a distance as are some of the no-collision bushes. Occasionally I've had to back up a ways to find a deer I've shot in the grassy areas.
It's possible that someone just noted your presence this way or they have found a way to exploit the graphics somehow. Some of the cheating methods referred to in other threads would suggest you could be entombed in a solid rock and still get headshot.
Perhaps afk should be exchanged with logging out.
Thanks a lot for the answers, i'm going to reconsider my hiding strategy :)
its not difficult to spot someone in a bush, if you value your character and gear then dont go afk
i always lay prone along a wall or edge of a building
