DayZ

Olga or not to Olga that is the Question?
I know vehicles in DayZ are buggy and very fragile creatures, but I just love putting them together and driving them, the satisfaction I get when putting on the final crucial piece I need for a car, Battery, Radiator, Spark Plug, Fuel, Water and Tires.

I love vehicles in the game due to their rarity and the effort needed to fix them.

2 days ago I started fixing up a Dark Red Olga in Cherno, found all engine components, fully fuelled and water,, kept the spark plug on me to stop people stealing it or destroying the engine from revving it too much.

However, I needed 2 tires, no matter how much I looked I just couldn't find any tires, I only found 1 Ada tire but that was useless to me, I couldn't find any tires be it Olga, Sarka and Gunter, 3 sets of tires couldn't find 1 and I know where to look to get them.

So I decided to go to Elektro, I was prepared to dump items from my bag so I could carry any Olga tires I find, but to my surprise I come across another Olga that had 3 tires on it, wait long for 1 bus then 3 come at once, that's what it was.

You'd think take a tire of the one in Cherno and put it on the one in Electro, most people would have the sense to do that and I agree, but my pride wouldn't allow it. I spent over two days fixing the Olga in Cherno, my pride just couldn't allow me to abandon it for the one in Elektro, plus I think someone else was fixing the one in Elektro because it had everything except a spark plug and a tire.

So I kindly and very politely stole two tires off the one in Elektro, put on in my bag, carried the over in my hand, all... the way... back to Cherno, and as you can't run while carrying a tire in hand, it meant a very... slow... walk... all... the... way... back... to... Cherno...

I know what most of you are thinking that's crazy, and it is, but my pride just wouldn't allow me to abandon the Olga I'd been fixing so much longer than the one in Elektro.

So what crazy things have you ever done in DayZ, heck it can be crazy things you've seen rather than done yourself.

Olga whenever possible.

Also vehicles are not buggy. Crappy servers are.

Are you saying the devs are lying?

Couldn't find one, so I had to sucked it up and carried the tire, lucky for me Cherno is basically next door to Elektro lol.

It's been know for a while that overloading a server will cause issues.

I fixed an olga today. It drove 10 meters and then the engine died. I hope your Olga survived longer ;)
Olga's carrying capacity makes it pretty good for loot runs and 2nd gear has enough power to be able to usually ignore 1st gear. It'd be nice if the PC version actually allowed you to use the spare tire slot. I hear the PS4 version does. I like the way the devs have the Olga make those clunky sounds, often for no visible reason, and try to make you think it's falling apart - nice touch.

I'm pretty sure I would have also tried to get both running but I'm sure it wouldn't have been due to pride - more like obsession :-)

As far as what vehicles spawn with I've run into several that only needed gas and water to get rolling - in fact I found an Ada that way this morning. Since I'm playing on a vanilla private server I'm certain this was a virgin spawn and nobody else was repairing it.

My Olga looked like it would Go the Distance, but some dumb motherducker placed a fence foundation on the road not knowing it was considered a solid object I drove into it and broke my car, I cried, literally and made my character commit suicide I was that upset,

But I'm over it now, got my sight set out a sexy red Gunter now.

I prefer the Gunter it has a far more appealing design to me, plus I hear it's fuel economy drawfs the FE on the other cars.

But I'll fix whatever I can find, even fixed up a Sarka once because mid or rear engined cars are just so cool.

I can't wait for the Transit Bus to be readded, cause I love buses.

Was only a yes or no answer! But i guess your reply amounts to a yes. The questions is about buggy vehicles, not overloading a server causing vehicle lag!

Actually my post wasn't a question, it was more of a blog about how I love to driving cars in DayZ and that I had to choose between 2 Olgas.
