Edit to add the ONLY time I had a car flip out on me was this patch however.
Nothing can be bought... Trader mod prolly hands you a car for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ collar dress...
i play on a server where you can buy anything, most of the vehicles are pretty expensive but I find all the car parts lying around

The phrase, "Drive Defensively", applies to DayZ vehicles 100%.
It's a bad server ( low fps ), players on potato internet and high ping in general causing desync ( the old engines were prone to this ), and too many players for the hardware...also non optimized mods or mods with models that are too high detail can cause bad performance. If you doubt it ask Dslyecxi from youtube.
My character also seems to trip and cut themselves if I get out of a car before shutting the engine off too, even if its completely stopped. I'm not so sure at this point if that's a bug or a feature. I'm just glad the game kinda works now.
Seems featurery to me. If you or your passengers want to bail from a moving/running car then DayZ exacts cost.
