I just tried to f11 myself with a long stick. No animation occurred. I thought I was bugged or something. They must have secretly patched it in 1.07.

If you're going to kill yourself I'm going to make you work for it!.....said the DayZ devs apparently. You've got to admit a long stick was able to be created without moving much more than a few steps away. Maybe they had a goal to make a player last a minimum of "x" minutes for each spawn.

Cutting bushes ans tall trees yield long sharpened sticks that you cook with. Combine with bone for a spear. Can confiirm that 1.07 isn't letting me suicide now with the emote. I Will try doing F11...or its back to jumping from rocks and bridges XD

Well,is worse to spawn in the middle of nowhere at night when its raining and have to wait half an hour that your character dies. The mechanics are broken in this game then half of the time is raining and you happen to spawn with no houses or buildings nearby.

Of course there would be people who abuse suicide, but then the devs should fix the spawn, or at least give you some fkng raincoat if you happen to spawn when is raining. Get some sense.

well, it gives a certain amount of survival to the game. i often start like that, thinking how i could grab my precious stuff from my previous life, but after a few minutes i want just to live on. you still can get yourself killed by a bunch of infected with no problems at all. they are capable of that
