DayZ
Mods that Make Dayz Hardcore?
So I am looking down the road to make a server that is PVE completely focused, where survival against bears, wolves, zombies, and nature itself is the priority. Does anyone have suggestions on if there are mods or a collection that can accomplish it?

Most of the mods are not really moving in that direction, usually more a spawn in with an m4 or trade ruined clothes for a fal etc sort of thing. My experience is the people serious about that run no mods but mod some of the server files to spawn many times the zeds and much less food. After 4 hours in Livonia you will be throwing away food... Again the very best to you sir.

Yeah i saw more of those mods than what i'm looking for but i am hoping i can reach out and see if others are interested.

The easiest way to make a server hardcore is to limit all food to basically nothing.
Weapons can be plentiful....everyone should get their AK.....you only have to limit ammo and make that scarce instead of the weapons. What goes first? Ammo ofcourse.
Less harvest on meat and vegetables. Not too excessively though.
Medical attention....now you need to be careful that you don't catch any disease. You also need to rest.
Less military clothing - more civilian clothing and what is also rare on kost servers are fir whatever reason: BELTS!!! Where are the repair items like sewing kits? We need to see more daily tools and stuff than military junk.
Leather crafting to make hunting useful besides for food.
Base building items just because building is limited.
More infected like at least twice as many.
There are so many more.

A few mods do exist though, browse the Workshop, but some notable examples are:

Medical Attention
Less food from animals (several different mods exist, take your pick)
Less vegetables
Less rags

Increased zombie spawns is easily done server side by editing zombie_territories.xml, google to find some tips and explanations of the various parameters.

Less food and fruit is achieved by editing types.xml and events.xml which controls the economy and the randompresets.xml that controls what zombies drop when they die.

Other than that you'll be wanting to disable the personal night light and not have nights too short, maybe remove NVG:s from the loot table and reduce military weapons and ammunition.

Good luck!

Edit: How did I miss Enforcer's post?!? What he said anyway!

As mentioned above there are mods for many things than can make DayZ more survivalish.
Also in the next patch there is going to be a setting for brighter or darker nights. From the looks of it it changes the brightness of the sky. Many have complained that the sky was too bright at night.

Visit us on the UpRise servers!
Livonia server is the more hardcore choice as opposed to the Chernarus millionaires building villas and smashing their BMW's.
We are proudly representing the best of the paranoia-free PVE trend that is popular and growing as people are tired of being KOS every minute and more and more take refuge in our sanctuary. They have the relaxing space and time to be growing and really enjoying the game and a selection of the best functioning mods ....as they should after a busy hard day at work...
