Is there a motivation to moving south in Livonia?
It just seems like everything is up north. At least as far as the map looks.

I am new to DayZ in general. Never played Cherno. And I am currently on a PVE server with PVP zones.

Higher tier loot is south on Livonia, the opposite as the original map... Its all pve south, food does not spawn etc. Probably not good to start with Livonia but whatever.

btw
you can 'level up' your character in Chernarus and then switch with the same char to Livonia if you stay on official.
North Livonia is pretty good on the civilian loot once you get past the dying of thirst and hunger part. Weapon types are pretty limited and I recommend stealthing around the infected and only using melee weapons to kill them. They swarm crazy like when there's a gunshot. My fave is the pickaxe. With practice it's a 1-2 hit infected killer.
There are greenhouses all over that contain veggie seeds that grow incredibly fast. The pickaxe also let's you dig a garden since it doesn't seem like the greenhouses work (or I'm too dumb to figure it out). Dig, plant, water (or rain), harvest, eat.
I almost forgot, the pickaxe is a one hit kill with chickens, goats, boars, cows. You do need to sneak up on them though.

The South is prettier.
@Popper, in case you need a gentle push toward DayZ greatness

south is where there is more loot and less food therefore making you more dependent on the land.
