How the hell are people breaking into my base?
I spent four hours on a base last night, got on today and they broke ALL the locks off the gate. Cut down half the wall from OUTSIDE (you know, the place you should not be able to get through)

WTF is the point in making a base if people can just cut it down in five minutes. How the ♥♥♥♥ are people getting in?

they take an axe to your wall. whack it for couple of minutes in an animation and bam. It happens. Basebuilding in DayZ is not exactly like it is in epoch/exile.

That is retarded, whats the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point then? The game is soley a PvP game.

Sounds to me that bases, at least in their current iteration...are only for groups of players that can defend the base in shifts.

Rule 1 of Dayz in 2019.

Don't play Vanilla.

You'll only get a proper base building system, from modded servers. Large mods like Base Building Plus are making huge progress with wall snapping, different strengths and so on.

The devs threw in base-building as a way of saying "hey everyone, come buy our game, we have base-building now" but it really is just a half-fledged idea at best, but completely useless in all regards. In fact, it's far safer to store your stuff in a barrel hidden in a pine tree than it is to build a base that sticks out like a sore thumb.

It's just one of many things about this game and it's devs that will never make sense.

But as stated previously, no one should ever play vanilla servers for any reason whatsoever...unless you just hate yourself and your life.

https://dayzsalauncher.com/#/home you'll thank me later.

I have the launcher already, I just dont like tons of mods. Which sucks, since the only populationed server are just kill fests. I want to play the game with that survival feel, but still have the PvP.

But ya, spending four-six hours making a base just to have somebody break it down in 4min is shameful.

A hack saw is really easy to cut through a lock. There really is no point in base building in DayZ unless on a private server where you can disable raiding. The other option is to make it harder for them. I made a base with 4 inner walls, 4 gates, top and bottom of fences with barbed wire and a mixture of metal walls and wood. People just got bored of trying to break in and left it alone. It's still there now after 2 months. Make sure you stock up on repair items and repair attempts of break ins everyday. This is a lot of work and might not be worth it to you. I'd recommend finding a medium tent and some camo netting and hiding in in a remote location in a large number of bushes. I also have a camo tent that has not yet been found for months.

I hear ya there. I do wish there were more surival-ish modded servers, as there seems to be none at all. Like you said, it's just "loot a few items, sell at trade, kit out m4, rinse and repeat." But I guess you have to choose the lesser of 2 evils...either play on servers where looting isn't a big deal, or play vanilla and lose everything all the time.

I'd start my own server again, I got the money. Just so hard to populate it. And it's no fun to run into Tisty with no fear.

The question I pose to you is, what's the point of building a base if you don't have anyone who stays home to protect it?
deuceyd Nov 27, 2019 @ 3:55pm
Don't build a base just make stashes. Bury loot, don't hide it behind a wooden wall that takes 5 minutes to break through.

You only spent 6 hours? hahaha bro... I lost solo bases I worked on for MONTHS. It comes down to a simple fact, if someone wants to get in and has the time, they absolutely will no matter how many walls you put between them and the loot. That also goes for you as well, if you find a base....you can always get in. If no ones home and you got an hour or two.... your gonna get in. The funs in the build. Enjoy the grind, every raids an opportunity as well. Figure out how the got in and improve on that defence. The longest lasting base I have had on official is about 6 months and counting, because its TINY. It doesn't look worth breaking into I guess and its WELL outa the road.
i dont build bases but i come across them and thats stupid of dayz to let it be easy to get into , i feel for u to take the time doing one, make it tougher dayz and make the tents have more than 7 spots to put them on a 160klm sq map , do ur job one job and u seem to do silly ♥♥♥♥ instead of fixing what we ask u to , fix bases so it takes at least 6 hrs to break in then these guys have a chance , we need somewere to put stashes , the options are week as piss best one is bury but u can see that to , we all want some stash we not happy to just run around till die then start again from scratch completly , its nice to run to your stach use some of it , it gets used eventually anyway
