Melee System
Were the devs on ♥♥♥♥ing drugs when making the melee system. What is that stun lock the game is literally unplayable like come on.

Idk what you are referring to but you can hold RMB + S to block attacks. I think this reduces damage.
You can also press shift + LMB to do heavy attacks and stun people, but it needs more stamina.
And you can dodge with q and e while holding RMB.
And you can attack with your weapon. Just press "F" when you have a gun (f.e. Ump). I think you also have to hold RMB while doing this. Btw this feature is only possible on the test servers.

@QP my experience may have been different as I have been playing on non-stamina servers.

Getting stunlocked is somewhat of a problem, even on stamina servers. Just smack a person with shift+left click against a wall and with a bit of luck you will stunlock him till unconsciousnes.

Thats the point, you can't. You are stuck in that animation in which your character get pushed back because of the smack, hence the stunlock.

I totally agree with you, I don't know what they were thinking when they made this melee system. Even the old one was better in my opinion at least you didn't get blocked from attacking. At the moment its pretty much the 1st person that attacks wins the fight due to stunlock.

This is just a balancing thing, it will be adjusted. Getting stunlocked in any game is frustrating, it is not something that should be possible. If they just made it possible to block while staggering - so another stagger can't be triggered before you can act - that would fix that problem.

I'm more concerned with the forward movement when attacking with some weapons. It makes holding your ground in a doorway - pretty damn important when fighting multiple zeds - practically impossible. One swing makes you step out in the open so they can get at your sides. I hate that bit.

Other than that I like the system, it is more involved than just spamming the same button until either party drops.

Melee combat is still WIP. The best we can do right now is avoid such situatuons.

yes the stunlock is really stupid u just hit someone once and they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ unless they have a friend nearby

Like Beavis said, it can be balanced. The new melee system is better than the old one, it just needs to be more perfected.

We'll have to see what this engine is capable of. Usually when developers create their games, the combat is generally focused in two areas, ranged/shooting combat or melee combat. I haven't played too many games that mix both well. Hence why majority of fps's, have very limited melee usually in the form of knife slash, weapon butt or some form of choke animation. Melee games end up the opposite. Really good melee with poor/limited ranged combat.

We'll just have to see what the developers and this engine are capable of but due to the console port I can see the combat taking a more arcadey route which may work well to balance the melee and shooting mechanics at the cost of realistic ranged combat

See Dying Light for an example of really good Melee combat and not so good shooty combat.

The devs did not design the system to be played without stamina. You should complain the server owners that modified the game and made the problem rather than suggest the devs were on drugs.

while gunplay is getting better and better with every build, melee combat is still a mess..

my biggest problem is the forwardmomentum and the fact that i cannot move while im attacking.. i really want the ability to walk while swinging in that direction i want to..

another fact that is really annoying in the newest stresstest builda are the sounds :D
when u hit a zombie its like: houu ähhhh houuhhh ähhh houhhh äähhhh... WHY DEVS :( ?
