Well congratulations and have a nice day.
Cya,
Please live up to your words and don't come back.
You invested money into an unfinished product and into a small group of devs. Ofc it will take a long time for the finished product. The "problem" with Dayz is that they were in extreme Early Acces. Other games that are also extreme Early Acces don't succed (look at Radical Heights). DayZ should have go into EA at this point of development (0.63). Most of the games already have a good engine and most of the stuff finished.
Trust me. Your problem is that you don't know what development means. You simply invested money into a product that copy pasted some stuff from the mod into a standalone version. It was actually a Day 1 version of the game.
You would think about GTA 6 in the same way if it would be EA. Think about it. They are already developing this game. If Rockstar Games would have developed GTA V with 30-80 devs, it wouldn't even be ready in 2018. They are actually really slow. It took them for 3-5 years with 1000 programers and a huge budget. The reason for this is mostly the decisions. Decisions for games can take longer than actually programing it.
I'm happy with DayZ and never thought about a scam. It is EA and I know what this means. I can play the game and it gets developed. If they would have stopped the development then I would be mad. The only game that scamed me was PUBG <- Selling an EA game as a finished product should be illegal.
After all they are still developing. They hired 30 more guys in the last 6 Months. So you will still get your product and you was able to play it before it was ready. And you also helped the development. EA in a nutshell.
Most of the popular games that came out in EA are roughly 4-5 years old. Subnautica, Rust, The Forest, Ark and more i'm probably forgetting. These all took around 4 years and have only recently come out of early access this year.
Most Triple A titles take about 5 years to make as well. some take over a DECADE, looking at you Duke Nukem Forever!
I'm not trying to convince you you're wrong. You've got every right to not trust EA titles. If DayZ is the one that screwed the pooch for you and your mates sorry to hear.
Nothing that he said comes close to being a 'white knight'. It's more or less objectively true. You can always present facts that show something different if you disagree.
I think you need to go do some self reflection for loosing your ♥♥♥♥ over a game on a steam forum.
However i believe your IQ is way too low for self reflection.
Enjoy :)
if you dislike EA, take it up with them.
