Early Access
Remember all the fan boise who said all those who complained at the lack of development after 5 years of waiting were being impatient and it didn't matter what we thought anyway?

Myself and the 43 other people I game with have agreed to cease and desist investing in early access games from this point forward. I know many others who have adopted that philosophy as well.

So, to all DayZ fan boise: can you now understand the ripple effect ripping off your customer base behind the thinly veiled lie of "early access" can have for others?

What do you mean by "others" ? That makes no sense... there are no other games. :)

If you think DayZ is the reason I never bought an EA game again, you're right.

Oh man, we dodged a bullet on this one, someone could have actually interacted with this noodle.

Cya,
Please live up to your words and don't come back.

i think Star Citizen started this trend, that you can make huge promises and look realy ambitios to make people invest into your project, and then take all the money and live rich for 5 years while your game is super slowly developed by a small team. its pretty much a Legal way to scam costumers all around the world. Im not just talking about DaYZ but about every other Early access and greenlight games.

Who actually is so dumb to think that a game is developed within months? Lol

You invested money into an unfinished product and into a small group of devs. Ofc it will take a long time for the finished product. The "problem" with Dayz is that they were in extreme Early Acces. Other games that are also extreme Early Acces don't succed (look at Radical Heights). DayZ should have go into EA at this point of development (0.63). Most of the games already have a good engine and most of the stuff finished.

Trust me. Your problem is that you don't know what development means. You simply invested money into a product that copy pasted some stuff from the mod into a standalone version. It was actually a Day 1 version of the game.

You would think about GTA 6 in the same way if it would be EA. Think about it. They are already developing this game. If Rockstar Games would have developed GTA V with 30-80 devs, it wouldn't even be ready in 2018. They are actually really slow. It took them for 3-5 years with 1000 programers and a huge budget. The reason for this is mostly the decisions. Decisions for games can take longer than actually programing it.

I'm happy with DayZ and never thought about a scam. It is EA and I know what this means. I can play the game and it gets developed. If they would have stopped the development then I would be mad. The only game that scamed me was PUBG <- Selling an EA game as a finished product should be illegal.

After all they are still developing. They hired 30 more guys in the last 6 Months. So you will still get your product and you was able to play it before it was ready. And you also helped the development. EA in a nutshell.

Don't let the door hit ya where mother nature split ya.

Most of the popular games that came out in EA are roughly 4-5 years old. Subnautica, Rust, The Forest, Ark and more i'm probably forgetting. These all took around 4 years and have only recently come out of early access this year.

Most Triple A titles take about 5 years to make as well. some take over a DECADE, looking at you Duke Nukem Forever!

I'm not trying to convince you you're wrong. You've got every right to not trust EA titles. If DayZ is the one that screwed the pooch for you and your mates sorry to hear.

White Knighting is different from having a realistic point of view. We all knew what we were getting into, that you can't dispute. I still play DayZ occasionally but I've given up on closely following the development. It's just not worth the headache, but the game will be out of EA someday. The lesson is to take everything with a large grain of salt and nothing is promised.

Look at it this way. They released it as EA, you were able to download it an play it right from the start. They could have just released it as a kickstarter and taken your money like a lot of new and upcoming companies do and you couldn't have seen the progress of it being made and just read little blogs once in a while.

hold up we got a white knight here, one of the DayZ investors sniffing cocaine for the money you gave him reading your comment right now smiling, he is happy, you are happy, everybody is happy ^_^

Nothing that he said comes close to being a 'white knight'. It's more or less objectively true. You can always present facts that show something different if you disagree.

Bud, if you are 32 years old and act like 'I am always right' it means your daddy hit you too hard and this is why you are angry all the time.

I think you need to go do some self reflection for loosing your ♥♥♥♥ over a game on a steam forum.

However i believe your IQ is way too low for self reflection.

Enjoy :)
closing. there are megathreads on this issue in the steam forum area.

if you dislike EA, take it up with them.
